This is the company’s first dedicated HR role and offers the opportunity to help build HR programs, processes, and infrastructure from the ground-up.

We are seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and enjoys building processes as the organization grows. A hands-on professional comfortable creating structure and developing HR processes in real time would be vital to success.

This role is well-suited for someone who is adaptable, proactive, and excited to help establish and shape the company’s HR function.

The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting and administering the organization’s daily human resources functions while ensuring compliance with company policies, employment regulations, and operational objectives. This role serves as a key resource for both employees and management by supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy administration, training coordination, benefits administration, personnel records management, and employee separation processes. The position requires professionalism, discretion, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced technical, industrial, field-service, maritime, fabrication, and electro-mechanical environments.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment \& Hiring Support

  • Assist with job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communications.
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements including background checks, drug screenings, employment verification, and onboarding documentation.
  • Support hiring managers with job descriptions and recruitment activities.
  • Prepare offer letters and maintain recruiting documentation in compliance with company standards and legal requirements.

Employee Onboarding \& Orientation

  • Coordinate onboarding activities for new employees.
  • Ensure completion of employment documentation including I-9 forms, tax forms, direct deposit information, handbook acknowledgments, and benefit enrollment paperwork.
  • Assist with new hire orientation, workplace expectations, company policies, and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate with payroll, operations, safety, and management teams to ensure employees are properly set up for work assignments.

Employee Records \& HR Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and HR records.
  • Organize and update records related to onboarding, payroll, benefits, training, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and separations.
  • Assist with HR audits and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure proper retention and confidentiality of sensitive employee information.

Employee Relations \& Performance Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding company policies, attendance, payroll coordination, benefits, and workplace procedures.
  • Support management with employee relations matters including attendance concerns, conduct issues, conflicts, and workplace complaints.
  • Document employee discussions, corrective actions, and disciplinary matters in a professional and objective manner.
  • Assist with performance improvement plans, counseling documentation, and follow-up tracking.

Payroll \& Benefits Administration

  • Coordinate with payroll personnel to maintain accurate employee information and timekeeping records.
  • Support employee benefit enrollment, qualifying life events, and open enrollment processes.
  • Assist employees with benefit-related questions and documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and compensation information.

Compliance \& Policy Administration

  • Assist in the administration and communication of company policies and procedures.
  • Support compliance with employment laws, wage and hour regulations, recordkeeping requirements, workplace postings, and employment eligibility verification.
  • Maintain documentation for employee acknowledgments, safety procedures, disciplinary actions, and compliance training.
  • Assist with internal audits, reporting requirements, and HR compliance initiatives.

Training \& Safety Coordination

  • Track employee certifications, safety training, compliance training, and policy acknowledgments.
  • Coordinate training schedules with supervisors, managers, and safety personnel.
  • Maintain training records for office, field, shop, maritime, and customer-site employees.
  • Support workplace safety initiatives and communication of safe work practices.

Separation \& Offboarding

  • Assist with resignations, terminations, layoffs, and employee offboarding procedures.
  • Prepare separation documentation and coordinate final pay, benefits notices, and return of company property.
  • Maintain accurate records related to employee separations and exit processes
