Role Summary

Benefits \& HRIS Operations Specialist

The HR Operations Generalist serves as a key partner in delivering end-to-end People operations support across a high-volume, hourly workforce. This role owns the full lifecycle of Benefits and Leave of Absence administration, supports employee relations processes, and ensures consistent execution of policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

This position is designed for a highly capable generalist who can operate across multiple functional areas, balancing employee support with operational rigor. The role acts as a central point of coordination for employee inquiries, policy application, and People programs, while also providing backup support for payroll and workers’ compensation.

Success in this role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced environment while maintaining compliance and a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

Benefits \& Leave of Absence Administration

  • Own end-to-end administration of employee benefits, including eligibility, enrollment, qualifying life events, and issue resolution
  • Manage the full lifecycle of Leave of Absence (LOA) programs, including intake, documentation, tracking, and return-to-work coordination
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits and leave questions, ensuring timely and accurate support
  • Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless program administration
  • Support and execute annual benefits processes, including open enrollment and employee communications

Employee Relations \& Policy Execution

  • Serve as a field liaison for employee relations inquiries, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Support intake, documentation, and coordination of employee relations matters, escalating appropriately
  • Ensure consistent and fair application of company policies across all locations
  • Assist in investigations, documentation, and follow-up actions as needed
  • Partner with leadership to reinforce a positive and compliant work environment

People Operations \& SOP Implementation

  • Execute and maintain standardized People processes and SOPs across the employee lifecycle
  • Identify gaps in processes and contribute to the development and refinement of policies and procedures
  • Ensure operational consistency and compliance with internal guidelines and external regulations
  • Support rollout and adoption of new People programs and process improvements

Employee Support \& Operational Intake

  • Manage and resolve employee inquiries through the people team email and ticketing system, ensuring service level expectations are met
  • Provide clear, accurate guidance while identifying when escalation is required
  • Analyze trends in employee inquiries to recommend improvements to processes, communication, or policies
  • Deliver a high-quality employee experience through responsive and empathetic support

Payroll \& Workers’ Compensation (Backup Support)

  • Provide backup support for payroll processing, including data validation and issue resolution
  • Assist with workers’ compensation administration, including claims intake, documentation, and return-to-work tracking
  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to ensure timely and accurate handling of cases

HRIS \& Data Support (Light)

  • Process employee lifecycle transactions (terminations, job changes) with a focus on accuracy
  • Support basic data audits and maintain data integrity within HR systems
  • Partner with HRIS team on updates or issues as needed, without primary system ownership

Qualifications

  • 3\+ years of experience in HR operations, HR generalist, or similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of benefits administration, leave of absence (FMLA/ADA), and employee relations practices
  • Experience supporting hourly or high-volume workforces preferred
  • Familiarity with payroll processes and workers’ compensation administration is a plus
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies with sound judgment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and employee support skills
  • Comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
