Role Description
This is a full-time Network Engineer role based in Melbourne, VIC, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some work from home. The Network Engineer will design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructures for clients, including routing, switching, and firewall configurations. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring network performance, diagnosing and resolving incidents, and implementing changes in line with best practices and security requirements.
Key requirements:
- Firewall, VLAN, and vNET Engineering
: Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise firewalls, segmented VLAN architectures, and Azure vNET topologies to support secure, scalable cloud and hybrid environments.
- Azure ExpressRoute Deployment:
Proven capability in planning, provisioning, and operationalising ExpressRoute circuits for Azure landing zones, including routing configuration, BGP peering, redundancy design, and integration with on‑premises networks.
- Cloud Networking \& Security
Strong knowledge of DNS architecture, email security controls, certificate lifecycle management, private endpoints, and secure connectivity patterns across Azure and hybrid environments.
- Email Traffic Flow Migration (Priority Project)
Hands‑on experience analysing and redesigning mail flow from legacy on‑premises servers and intermediate nodes to modern cloud‑native Exchange Online routing, including cutover planning, coexistence, and security hardening.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Network Engineering and Network Design, including experience with routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
- Proficiency in Network Administration and day-to-day operations, such as configuration management, monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Demonstrated ability in Troubleshooting complex network issues and resolving incidents in a timely and structured manner.
- Solid understanding of Network Security principles, including segmentation, access control, and secure configuration practices.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, or equivalent are highly regarded.
- Experience working in environments with security or compliance requirements (e.g., government, regulated industries) is advantageous.
- Effective communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
