Job Overview – School Counselor (LCSW/LMHC/LMSW)

Compensation: $68 – $76/hour

Location: New York, NY

Schedule: Full-Time, Part-Time, or Per Diem (School Schedule)

TAG MedStaffing is hiring School Counselors in New York, NY providing counseling services within school-based settings for the upcoming school year. This role offers

flexible placement options across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, or Staten Island

based on preference. You will support students with social, emotional, and behavioral development while delivering individual and group counseling aligned with IEP and student support plans.

Responsibilities as the School Counselor:

• Counseling Services:

Provide individual and group counseling sessions to support student emotional and behavioral needs.

• Student Support:

Assist students in developing coping strategies, social skills, and emotional regulation for classroom success.

• IEP \& Documentation:

Maintain accurate records, prepare progress reports, and participate in IEP or support meetings.

Qualifications for the School Counselor:

• Education:

Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or a related field is required.

• Licensure:

Active New York State

LCSW, LMHC, or LMSW is required

• Certification:

New York State School Counselor certification is preferred.

• Experience:

Prior school-based counseling or mental health experience is preferred.

• Skills \& Attributes:

Demonstrates strong communication, organization, and the ability to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development in a structured school environment.
