Compensation: $68 – $76/hour

Location: New York, NY

Schedule: Full-Time, Part-Time, or Per Diem (School Schedule)

TAG MedStaffing is hiring a

Licensed School Counselor (LCSW, LMHC, or LMSW) in New York, NY

to support students in school-based counseling and mental health settings for the upcoming school year. This role is available across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island based on preference. You will provide individual and group counseling, support IEP-aligned goals, and help students build social, emotional, and behavioral skills for classroom success.

Responsibilities as the Licensed School Counselor:

• Counseling Support:

Provide individual and group counseling services to students with social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.

• Student Development:

Support students with coping skills, emotional regulation, peer relationships, and classroom readiness.

• IEP \& Care Coordination:

Collaborate with school teams, providers, and families to support IEP goals, intervention plans, and student progress.

• Documentation \& Reporting:

Maintain accurate counseling notes, progress updates, and required documentation in alignment with school-based requirements.

Qualifications for the Licensed School Counselor:

• Education:

Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field is required.

• Licensure:

Active New York State

LCSW, LMHC, or LMSW is required

• Certification:

New York State School Counselor certification is preferred.

• Experience:

Prior school-based counseling, student support, behavioral health, or mental health experience is preferred.

• Skills \& Attributes:

Demonstrates strong communication, documentation, collaboration, and the ability to support students in a structured school environment.
