Position Summary
The Director of IT Retail Store Technology is a strategic leadership role responsible for the vision, implementation, and support of retail technology ecosystems across two distinct channels: Orgill’s owned-and-operated subsidiary stores (Central Network Retail Group - CNRG) and Tech Services offered to its network of independent dealer customers.
This role bridges the gap between enterprise distribution and localized retail, ensuring that technology—ranging from point of sale (POS) and inventory ordering, integrated functions (e-com, endless aisle, etc.) and AI-driven analytics, serving as an agent of growth and monetizing tech services to Dealer Stores (Customers).
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Technology Roadmap: Lead the development and execution of a store technology strategy for CNRG stores, including how we might monetize these roadmap components for Services and for supporting smooth conversions for dealers transitioning to Orgill.
- Retail Operations Support: Oversee the Applications Support team for our CNRG stores and partner with Infrastructure support team for the balance of the Tech supporting Stores, ensuring high systems availability and performance. Core to this is CNRG’s POS systems (e.g., Epicor Eagle or Propello).
- Support Omnichannel Integration: Drive Store Tech features integration with the Retail Technology ecosystem, ensuring seamless data flow to POS, eCommerce, Loyalty, Marketing, and Master Data to provide a 360-degree view of the customer.
- Dealer Success: Act as a Consultant/Evangelist for independent dealers, including CNRG, translating complex technical roadmaps into business value to drive adoption of Orgill’s Tech Services.
- Innovation Center Leadership: Utilize the Orgill Innovation Center and CNRG as a “proving ground/lab” for emerging retail technologies, including ESLs, autonomous robotics, AI, and advanced POS systems features. Develop clear playbooks and ROI models to move successful pilots from the lab to broad-scale implementation across CNRG and dealer networks.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate and manage relationships with key technology partners, ensuring hardware and software solutions align with the unique needs of independent hardware retailers.
- Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team of retail technology specialists, project leads, and business process experts.
Qualifications \& Experience
- Industry Expertise: Minimum 10–15\+ years Technology supporting Retail hardware, applications and operations; with a preference for multiple years in either of the following:
- Home hardware, lumber, or building materials (LBM) retailing industry with a focus on retail operations
- Wholesale Distribution of hard goods/hardlines along with deep experience in Retail Operations
- Proven Leadership: Experience in senior leadership roles within a distribution or retail subsidiary environment (e.g., Tyndale Advisors or CNRG).
- Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of retail-specific tech, including POS systems, Inventory Management software, and e-commerce platforms.
- Project/Portfolio Management: Proven experience working directly with a PMO to prioritize competing demands, budgets, and timelines from multiple business units (CNRG vs. Independent Dealers)
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- Soft Skills: Strong business acumen, strategic, exceptional communication skills for dealer-facing consulting, and a "customer-first" winning attitude.

- A history of building long-term relationships with internal stakeholders, IT vendor partners (systems and hardware), and store/DC operations
