Job Description
The Benefits \& Compensation Specialist is responsible for supporting the administration of the Company's employee benefits and compensation programs. This role serves as a key resource for benefits operations, payroll administration, compensation processes, and employee inquiries while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented with experience supporting both benefits and compensation functions in a fast-paced HR environment.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration:
- Administer employee health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, and voluntary benefit programs.
- Monitor benefit eligibility and carrier file feeds to ensure data integrity and compliance amongst all benefit carriers.
- Coordinate employee enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, COBRA, and annual Open Enrollment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding 401(k) eligibility, enrollment, loans, distributions, and general plan inquiries.
- Partner with 401(k) recordkeeper and third-party administrator to resolve participant issues and audits.
- Manage the benefits inbox and service tickets queue, ensuring timely resolution of employee inquiries.
- Maintain accurate employee benefit records in multiple systems.
- Manage documentation and support internal and external audits and DOL Form 5500 filings.
- Assist with new hire orientations and benefits presentations.
Compensation Administration:
- Support compensation programs, including salary administration, job evaluations, and market pricing.
- Assist with annual merit increases, bonus administration, and compensation planning cycles.
- Prepare compensation reports, salary analyses, and workforce metrics.
- Conduct market research using salary surveys and benchmarking tools.
- Maintain compensation records and job documentation.
- Support pay equity initiatives and internal compensation audits.
- Assist with maintaining salary structures, job descriptions, and position classifications.
Human Resources Operations:
- Maintain employee records and HRIS data integrity.
- Generate HR reports and analytics related to benefits, compensation, and workforce trends.
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA.
- Collaborate with Payroll, HR Business Partners, and other departments to ensure seamless employee support.
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in benefits administration and compensation support.
- Working knowledge of employee benefit plans, leave administration, and compensation practices.
- Experience administering 401(k) and other qualified retirement plans.
- Experience with HRIS, benefits administration platforms, and payroll systems.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with salary benchmarking and compensation reporting preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
- Experience in a multi-state employer environment.
