Experience \& Skills:

  • Professional Experience:
  • 1-2 years minimum experience
  • Candidates with 2-4 years of corporate-side experience are highly valued, demonstrating exposure to day-to-day management and executive interaction.
  • Experience in a role that required managing multiple priorities and adapting to evolving business needs.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong Excel modeling skills are paramount and the most important technical requirement.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements or automation using Excel or other tools.
  • Understanding of accounting principles is necessary for reviewing reconciliations and providing general accounting support, but extensive direct accounting performance is not a strict requirement.

Mindset \& Attributes:

  • Proactive \& Resourceful:

A true "go-getter" who can initiate tasks and "figure things out in real time with minimal guidance," taking ownership of projects from inception to completion.

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit:

Aligned with the company's entrepreneurial drive and comfort with diversifying into new, unconventional ventures.

  • Analytical \& Strategic:

Possesses a strong analytical mind for KPI development, financial modeling, and segment analysis, while also capable of seeing the "bigger picture" of business strategy.

  • Adaptable \& Flexible:

Thrives in a dynamic, "scrappy" environment with diverse business interests and a non-traditional corporate structure.

  • Professional Maturity:

Comfortable interacting with the CFO and other executives, capable of direct communication and task execution with minimal oversight.

Workflow \& Environment:

  • Work Schedule:

This is an on-site position in Alexandria, VA, requiring presence four days a week. The company automatically offers remote work every other Friday, and the hiring manager is open to this role being fully remote on Fridays.

  • Collaboration:

The new hire will primarily partner directly with the CFO and gain insights into all business activities. Interactions with other team members and executives will occur as needed, particularly during the second round of the interview process.
