Job Description

A rapidly growing defense contractor is seeking a Sr. Manager, Supply Chain. The ideal candidate is responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain function, including procurement, material planning, supplier performance, inventory strategy, and cross-functional operational alignment. This role provides strategic direction and oversight to ensure materials, components, and services are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with defense contract flow downs regulatory requirements (DOD compliant).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute long-term supply chain strategies aligned with company growth, program demands, and financial objectives.
  • Lead procurement, materials management, and supplier performance functions to ensure operational continuity and scalability.
  • Establish strategic supplier partnerships and negotiate complex contracts, pricing agreements, and long-term supply arrangements.
  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives, value engineering efforts, and supply base optimization.
  • Oversee material planning and inventory management schedules to balance working capital efficiency with production readiness.
  • Implement supply risk mitigation strategies to proactively address alternate sourcing, EOL, long lead and high-risk vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, FAR/DFARS regulations, ISO 9001:2015 required, (AS9100 preferred) standards, and applicable government contracting requirements.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supplier performance, cost savings, on-time delivery, and inventory health.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Finance, and Quality to support program execution, forecasting, and demand planning.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team, establishing clear performance expectations and accountability.
  • Provide reporting on supply chain performance, cost savings, risk exposure, and improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 8\+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, or materials management within a defense manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading supply chain strategy and organizational transformation.
  • Proven success negotiating complex supplier agreements and managing high-value vendor relationships.
  • Implementation of tools such as TIQA, Costpoint modules, and Silicon expert
  • Strong background in ERP/MRP systems (Costpoint strongly preferred).
  • Experience leading teams and driving organizational change.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or technical school) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field required.
