Position Overview

The successful candidate will provide foundational instruction in literacy, mathematics, and social-emotional development, ensuring that all students build the essential skills necessary for long-term academic success. The position requires a strong understanding of early childhood development and differentiated instruction.

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Must possess (or be eligible for) an Elementary Teaching Endorsement (e.g., K–5 All Subjects or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of early literacy development and foundational math instruction
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
  • Commitment to meeting the diverse needs of all learners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at the early elementary level (K–2)
  • Training in literacy best practices (e.g., phonics-based instruction, MTSS/RTI frameworks)
  • Experience with data-driven instruction and progress monitoring
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and whole-child approaches

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in all core subject areas
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Assess student progress and use data to inform instruction
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians
  • Collaborate with colleagues, interventionists, and support staff
  • Participate in school improvement efforts and professional development
