Summary
The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for an Nurse Practitioner. The Nurse Practitioner will function in Neurology Service.
Duties
- Major duties and responsibilities of the position: Independently manages a panel of patients (new and follow up) with acute and chronic neurologic conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice Evaluating patient medical histories and performing neurological assessments
- Develop and implement an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team (RPMDC and Neurology) Orders and interprets relevant laboratory tests Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as MRI - CT scans - and EEGs Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions Prescribing medications Collaborating with neurologists - primary care providers - and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services Provides education to patients and their families Monitoring disease progression and adjusting therapies as needed Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes Provide guidance on cognitive evaluations - nonpharmacologic therapies - and patient counseling for conditions like Parkinson's Disease - Alzheimer's disease - as well as management of other neurological disorders Assess candidacy for and assist with management of neuromodulation devices including Deep Brain Stimulation with support from Movement Disorders specialists Exemplifies the ICARE core values of-Integrity - Commitment - Advocacy - Respect - and Excellence VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary - regular salary increases - potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm - Mon-Fri
