Position Summary
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing inbound and outbound transportation operations to ensure the safe, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective movement of raw materials and finished goods. This role manages carrier performance, supports transportation and warehouse operations, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates cross-functionally with warehouse, supply chain, brokers, and sales ops to maintain high service levels and operational efficiency within a fast-paced manufacturing and distribution environment.
Essential Duties \& Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shipping, receiving, transportation, and third-party logistics operations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, brokers, and transportation providers to support service reliability and cost efficiency.
- Comprehensive knowledge of multimodal transportation networks, including domestic and international freight, intermodal logistics operations.
- Develop, monitor, and report transportation KPIs including on-time delivery, freight claims, detention, utilization, and transportation costs.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, SQF, and company safety and transportation standards.
- Coordinate outbound/inbound scheduling and routing to support production, warehouse capacity, and customer requirements.
- Investigate transportation issues, damages, shortages, and service failures while implementing corrective actions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, service, operational efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Maintain transportation records, reporting, SOPs, and KPI dashboards.
- Partner with warehouse and shipping teams to improve trailer utilization, dock flow, load securement, and shipment accuracy.
- Analyze transportation data to identify process improvement opportunities and support carrier evaluations, bid processes, and contract negotiations.
- Support peak volume planning and operational disruptions as needed.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
- 5\+ years of transportation, logistics, warehouse, or supply chain experience within manufacturing, beverage, food, or consumer packaged goods environments.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Knowledge of transportation operations, carrier management, routing, and freight optimization.
- Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, SQF, and food/beverage compliance standards.
- Experience with WMS, ERP, and yard management systems (YMS).
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation reporting tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in warehouse, production, and office environments.
- Ability to walk warehouse floors, loading docks, and transportation yards regularly.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Must comply with all PPE and safety requirements.
- Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday support may be required based on operational needs.
