at Northwestern University! We are looking for motivated

Research Technicians

to help us decode neural circuits and behavior in

Drosophila

and other more exotic insect species.

Our work spans many techniques and approaches from molecular genetics, to electrophysiology, to live imaging, to transgenesis, to behavior (including on unusual or exotic insect species). This is an ideal position for someone who wants to work in the Lab for couple of years before going to graduate school. We'd also consider more senior personnel if they have relevant expertise, i.e., in electrophysiology using cultured cells.

This is a full-time, on-site Research Laboratory Technician role based in Evanston, IL. Additional responsibilities may include supporting experiments, documenting results, and contributing to collaborative research activities.

Qualifications

  • Analytical skills and the ability to interpret and analyze research data
  • Proficiency in laboratory skills, including basic laboratory techniques
  • Hands-on experience managing and operating laboratory equipment
  • Background and knowledge in neuroscience and/or biology and scientific research
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field such as Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline
