CityHealth Urgent Care is a successful, independently owned and operated urgent care clinic in San Leandro, California. We are seeking an experienced, confident Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our collaborative, patient-centered team.
This role is ideal for a provider who enjoys practicing independently in a busy outpatient setting, treating a broad range of acute illnesses and injuries, and performing urgent care procedures. Our clinic offers the opportunity to practice meaningful, hands-on medicine as part of a supportive team.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive urgent care services, including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care, and referrals as appropriate.
- Perform focused physical examinations; order and interpret diagnostic tests; develop treatment plans; and prescribe medications within scope of practice.
- Evaluate and manage acute illnesses and injuries in a fast-paced urgent care environment.
- Perform procedures within training and scope of practice, including laceration repair, splinting, incision and drainage, foreign-body removal, eye examinations, pelvic examinations, and joint injections.
- Provide school and sports physicals, annual wellness visits, medication-refill visits, and weight-management care as appropriate.
- Document patient encounters accurately, thoroughly, and promptly in the Epic electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, front-desk staff, and other team members to provide coordinated, high-quality care.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, preventive care, and follow-up instructions.
- Follow clinic policies, clinical protocols, and applicable regulatory and safety standards.
- Participate in quality-improvement efforts and contribute to a respectful, team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications
- Current, active California Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license.
- Current NCCPA certification for Physician Assistants or national board certification for Nurse Practitioners.
- At least two years of independent experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in urgent care, emergency medicine, or a similarly fast-paced outpatient setting preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, procedural, and medical decision-making skills.
- Comfortable managing patients independently while collaborating with the supervising physician and clinical team when appropriate.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient-education skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume setting while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Epic experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
