This role is ideal for a provider who enjoys practicing independently in a busy outpatient setting, treating a broad range of acute illnesses and injuries, and performing urgent care procedures. Our clinic offers the opportunity to practice meaningful, hands-on medicine as part of a supportive team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive urgent care services, including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care, and referrals as appropriate.
  • Perform focused physical examinations; order and interpret diagnostic tests; develop treatment plans; and prescribe medications within scope of practice.
  • Evaluate and manage acute illnesses and injuries in a fast-paced urgent care environment.
  • Perform procedures within training and scope of practice, including laceration repair, splinting, incision and drainage, foreign-body removal, eye examinations, pelvic examinations, and joint injections.
  • Provide school and sports physicals, annual wellness visits, medication-refill visits, and weight-management care as appropriate.
  • Document patient encounters accurately, thoroughly, and promptly in the Epic electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, front-desk staff, and other team members to provide coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, preventive care, and follow-up instructions.
  • Follow clinic policies, clinical protocols, and applicable regulatory and safety standards.
  • Participate in quality-improvement efforts and contribute to a respectful, team-oriented work environment.

Qualifications

  • Current, active California Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Current NCCPA certification for Physician Assistants or national board certification for Nurse Practitioners.
  • At least two years of independent experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in urgent care, emergency medicine, or a similarly fast-paced outpatient setting preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, procedural, and medical decision-making skills.
  • Comfortable managing patients independently while collaborating with the supervising physician and clinical team when appropriate.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient-education skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume setting while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Epic experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.

Why CityHealth Urgent Care

  • Successful, independently owned and operated urgent care practice.
  • Collaborative and supportive clinical team.
  • Broad range of clinical presentations and hands-on procedures.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing accessible, high-quality care to the East Bay community.
