Role Description
:
We are hiring a Lab Technician to support our R\&D and pilot plant operations. In this hands-on role, you’ll operate and calibrate lab equipment, support formulation trials on our pilot machines, and help our food scientists turn early-stage ideas into scalable products. This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the food science industry or a related field who wants realworld experience in product development and manufacturing.
What You’ll Do:
- Operate a range of lab and pilot-scale equipment to support product development and quality testing.
- Calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on lab instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Assist food scientists in running formulation trials on pilot machines, including weighing ingredients, mixing, processing, and recording results.
- Prepare samples for analysis and conduct standard physical, chemical, and sensory tests. Document procedures, observations, and results clearly in lab notebooks and electronic systems.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment in compliance with GMP, food safety, and OSHA standards.
- Track inventory of raw materials, reagents, and lab supplies, and notify the team when reorders are needed.
- Support cross-functional teams (R\&D, QA, Production) with sample prep, data collection, and trial execution.
Qualifications
- Strong general laboratory skills and experience working in a laboratory environment as a Laboratory Technician or in a similar role.
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment, including proper setup, operation, calibration, and basic maintenance.
- Quality control focus, including following standardized test methods, documenting results, and recognizing deviations.
- Analytical skills to interpret test data, identify trends or anomalies, and communicate findings clearly to the project team.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with food science, chemistry, biochemistry, or related disciplines; prior food or beverage lab experience is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of safety, hygiene, and regulatory practices in a laboratory or food production environment.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Ability to work on-site full time in the New York City Metropolitan Area and collaborate effectively within a diverse, cross-functional team.
