KBF is seeking a Strategic Solutions Director to join our IT/Business Enablement team.

Our ideal Strategic Solutions Director is a hands-on principal technologist who scripts, codes, and leads custom technical solutions from ideation through production. This is the most technology-forward seat in KBF's Innovation \+ Technology function: the person who builds. Working from firm leadership's priorities, this role turns objectives into working software and automation that improve operational efficiency and margin.

The role serves as solution architect and technical lead for custom development across KBF, both in-house and through outsourced developers, for professional service practices. This role is also KBF's liaison for external technical partnerships and collaborations. It carries no direct reports as it directs the work rather than the people, setting technical direction and priorities for outsourced developers and, as the function grows, a planned US-based associate. Responsibilities* Hands-On Development \+ Technical Leadership

+ Personally script, code, and build custom solutions, leading technical delivery from ideation through testing and production.

+ Own solution architecture and technical decision-making across all custom builds.

+ Serve as the firm's principal technical authority, a fellow-caliber individual contributor who holds the deepest technical expertise across the Innovation \+ Technology function.

+ Raise KBF's software engineering maturity, bringing professional discipline to version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and security practices.

• Architecture \+ System Integration

+ Design and build against enterprise APIs using modern, AI-assisted development tooling.

+ Lead system integration and AI and MCP-server development across Enterprise Applications such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Microsoft 365, Thomson Reuters, and others.

• AI \+ Automation Across Practices

+ Direct AI and workflow-automation development and deployment for KBF professional services practices.

+ Build custom tooling from business-stakeholder requirements, translating operational problems into working solutions.

+ Translate leadership priorities into the right technical solutions to achieve operational efficiency and margin.

• Innovation Lab \+ Advisement

+ Run KBF's innovation lab as the environment where new AI and automation solutions are prototyped and delivered.

+ Advise firm leadership and department heads on innovation and technology opportunities, grounded in what can be built and shipped.

• Technical Direction \+ Delivery

+ Set technical direction and prioritization for outsourced developers, who take functional direction from this role without reporting to it.

+ Provide technical direction to additional resources as the function grows, including a planned US-based Strategic Solutions Associate.

+ Serve as KBF's technical liaison for key technical partnerships, coordinating with external delivery partners on KBF's custom AI solution offerings and enhancements.

Qualifications \& Requirements* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

• Individuals must be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule from one of our office locations is strongly preferred; however, remote U.S.-based candidates will also be considered
• A strong software engineering foundation that has grown into fluency with AI-assisted development, materially increasing technical output and efficiency
• Deep command of AI and Large Language Model application patterns, API integration, and modern software architecture, plus hands-on experience building MCP (Model Context Protocol) services
• Demonstrated depth in at least one relevant language, such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL, with evidence of elevating that skill through AI-assisted tooling. Breadth across many languages is not required
• Five or more years of hands-on software development, including leading custom software or automation solutions end to end, from ideation through production
• Proven ability to translate business problems into AI or automation solutions
• Professional software engineering discipline: version control, CI/CD pipelines, regression and end-to-end testing, and security-conscious development, including familiarity with penetration testing
• Awareness of data-security and regulatory obligations in a professional-services or financial-services context (GLBA, FTC Safeguards Rule, IRS Section 7216) and of controls frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001
• Experience directing the work of distributed or outsourced developers is strongly preferred
• Experience in a professional services, accounting, or financial services environment is strongly preferred

*The salary range for this position reflects various factors that influence compensation decisions, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, licensure, geographic location, and other organizational requirements. At KBF CPAs, it is uncommon for a candidate to be hired at the high end of the salary range, as compensation is based on the unique qualifications and circumstances of each individua**l. The estimated current salary range for this role is $185,000 - $250,000\.*
