Job Description
About us
Office.eu is a fully European-owned company building a privacy-focused SaaS platform on European infrastructure. In a market dominated by US Big Tech, we're building the alternative: trustworthy, GDPR-native services that keep European data in European hands. It's a small team doing serious work, and the platform is growing fast.
Our stack runs on Kubernetes and includes Nextcloud instances, email infrastructure based on Stalwart Mail Server, and authentication via Keycloak. Provisioning and signup flows are powered by a Ruby on Rails application running on a managed PaaS. As we grow, we're gradually bringing more infrastructure in-house to improve control, performance, and GDPR compliance.
For roles with access to production infrastructure and customer data, we require exclusive EU jurisdiction. It's the same principle of trust that we offer our customers.
We're looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to take ownership of our platform's reliability and help shape our infrastructure into a scalable, well-operated system. This is an early-stage role with real influence over technical direction. You'll work directly with our CTO, Dimitri (https://www.linkedin.com/in/timidri/).
What you'll do
- Operate and improve our Kubernetes-based platform (multi-tenant workloads)
- Manage and scale services like Nextcloud, email, and authentication
- Build and maintain observability (metrics, logs, alerting)
- Define and implement SLIs/SLOs and improve incident response
- Automate provisioning workflows (DNS, certificates, tenant setup via Bunny.net)
- Improve deployment workflows (CI/CD, GitOps)
- Contribute to infrastructure design decisions as we bring more systems in-house
- Strengthen security practices and support GDPR-compliant operations
What we're looking for
Must have:
- Strong experience running Kubernetes in production
- Solid Linux and networking fundamentals
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar)
- Observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Experience operating stateful services (databases, storage-heavy systems)
Nice to have:
- Experience with Nextcloud at scale
- Experience with email systems (SMTP, DKIM, deliverability)
- Experience with identity systems like Keycloak
- Familiarity with GitOps tooling (Argo CD, Flux, etc.)
- Experience in multi-tenant SaaS environments
- Experience working within EU/GDPR constraints
Who you are
- You've operated production systems and handled real incidents
- You think in systems, not just tools
- You work independently and make pragmatic trade-offs
- You simplify systems instead of adding complexity
- You have a strong desire to help Europe regain control of its digital infrastructure
- You're an EU citizen based in the EU
- You're fluent in English (our working language)
How we work
- Remote-first
- Async-friendly communication
- Small team with high ownership and autonomy
- Pragmatic approach: simplicity over unnecessary tooling
What we offer
- Competitive salary, based on experience and EU location
- High ownership over infrastructure decisions
- The chance to shape a growing platform from an early stage
- Flexible remote work anywhere in the EU
- Flexible working hours
How to apply
Send us:
- A short introduction telling us why this role interests you
- Links to relevant work (GitHub, blog, projects)
- A brief description of a production system you've operated with details on what you ran, what broke, what you learned
- We are not working with recruitment agencies for this role
