We are currently looking for a
DB2 Database Administrator
to join one of our global clients in Bucharest, Romania.

Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support DB2 database environments across Development, Test, QA, and Production systems.
- Create and manage DB2 instances and databases while ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Configure and maintain backup and recovery solutions using TSM.
- Troubleshoot DB2 issues by analyzing diagnostic logs, notification logs, memory trackers, db2pd outputs, and other monitoring tools.
- Perform database patching, upgrades, migrations, and routine maintenance activities.
- Manage online and offline backups, export/import operations, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Monitor database performance and perform SQL tuning, database tuning, and execution plan analysis.
- Install and configure DB2 clients and related database products.
- Support partitioned database environments and high-availability configurations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database reliability, security, and performance.
- Participate in on-call support and incident resolution activities.
- Follow ITIL processes and operational best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 5\+ years of experience in DB2 Database Administration.
- Strong hands-on experience with
DB2 UDB (V8\.x, V9\.x, and/or 10\.x)
.
- Experience with DB2 partitioning and high-availability environments.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in DB2 instance creation, database creation, backup configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, including DDL and DML operations.
- Experience with backup and recovery using TSM.
- Experience managing online and offline backups, export/import operations, and database maintenance activities.
- Hands-on experience supporting DB2 on UNIX/Linux environments.
- Knowledge of UNIX shell scripting and awk scripting.
- Strong experience in performance tuning, including SQL optimization, DB and DBM tuning, and explain plan analysis.
- Understanding of Enterprise Backup Solutions.
- Good understanding of DPF (Database Partitioning Feature).
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within global teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and perform under pressure.
