Project Manager – Data Centres \| Owner Operator (mechanical background necessary)

Up to $250k base \+ super \+ bonus

An exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join an established data centre owner-operator, supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure projects across Sydney.

With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued investment in the data centre sector, this is an opportunity to join a growing team and play a key role in delivering complex, mission-critical facilities.

The client is specifically seeking a Project Manager with a mechanical engineering or mechanical services background to strengthen the existing team. Proven experience delivering data centre projects is essential, ideally gained within a mechanical contractor, services provider or head contractor environment.

Working closely with internal project teams, consultants and contractors, you will oversee project delivery, coordinate complex mechanical services and ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the delivery of data centre projects from design development and planning through to construction, commissioning and final handover.
• Coordinate mechanical services and building services packages across complex, mission-critical environments.
• Work closely with consultants, contractors, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Monitor project programmes, budgets, procurement activities and construction milestones.
• Oversee contractor performance, ensuring works are completed in accordance with project specifications, contractual requirements and quality standards.
• Identify and manage project risks, resolve technical challenges and implement effective solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements, quality standards and relevant regulations.
• Provide regular updates on project progress, costs, risks and programme performance.
• Support the coordination of design, construction and commissioning activities to ensure the successful delivery of operational facilities.

Key Requirements

• Mechanical engineering, mechanical services or relevant mechanical trade background.
• Proven experience delivering data centre projects is essential.
• Previous experience as a Project Manager or in a similar project delivery role.
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical services, HVAC and complex building services.
• Experience working within a mechanical contractor, services provider, head contractor or data centre owner-operator environment.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate contractors, consultants, programmes, budgets and project delivery.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, commercially minded approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and drive project outcomes.
