Work Structure \& Commitment
This is a high-impact, flexible role designed for someone who values autonomy but operates with strong accountability.
- Phase 1 (Immersion): \~20 hours/week
- Focus: Daily execution, learning workflows, auditing spend
- Phase 2 (Maintenance): \~10 hours/week
Focus: Managing systems once automations and SOPs are in place
Availability Requirements:
- Must be available for rapid-response requests (BOLs, Slack inquiries) between 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM EST
- Outside this window, a 2-hour response SLA applies
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Operations
- Plan, book, and manage all LTL and parcel shipments
- Ensure complete accuracy in shipping documentation (BOLs, PO numbers, etc.)
- Monitor shipments and proactively resolve issues
Margin Protection
- Balance cost, speed, and reliability across all freight decisions
- Continuously rate-shop and optimize carrier selection
- Audit freight invoices to prevent overcharges and “rate creep”
Systems \& Automation
- Improve and automate workflows between Sales, Slack, and Warehouse operations
- Implement integrations within HubSpot and Shopify to eliminate manual tasks
Data Ownership \& Documentation
- Maintain complete ownership of logistics data and shipment tracking
- Provide real-time updates across internal systems
- Build and maintain SOPs and a centralized Logistics Playbook
Role Roadmap
Phase 1: Immersion (Month 1)
- Own daily shipment execution and tracking
- Identify cost leaks and inefficiencies
- Set up alternative carrier accounts (e.g., TForce, Uber Freight)
Phase 2: Transformation (Months 2–3)
- Implement automation workflows (HubSpot, Shopify)
- Develop SOPs and decision frameworks for Sales
- Standardize rate-shopping processes
Phase 3: Ongoing Operations
- Manage all inbound, outbound, and return shipments
- Reconcile invoices weekly
- Handle freight claims and carrier performance reviews
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Proven experience in LTL and small parcel logistics
- Background in wholesale or e-commerce logistics preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in HubSpot and Shopify
- Advanced knowledge of carrier portals and booking systems
Mindset \& Work Style
- Proactive problem-solver (“fixer” mentality)
- Highly detail-oriented with strong operational discipline
- Able to work independently and communicate clearly across teams
What Success Looks Like
- Seamless coordination between Sales and Warehouse
- Reduced shipping costs and improved margins
- Fully automated logistics workflows with minimal manual intervention
- Accurate, real-time visibility into all shipments
Authority \& Impact
This role reports directly to the Director of Operations and has the authority to enforce logistics standards across Sales and Warehouse teams.
Pay: $20\.00 per hour
Application Question(s):
- Please describe your experience using HubSpot and Shopify for logistics. Specifically, have you ever built or managed an automation/integration between these two platforms?
- Briefly describe a time you identified a "cost leak" or a recurring overcharge in a logistics process. How did you resolve it?
- How many years of experience do you have managing LTL and parcel shipments within a wholesale or e-commerce environment?
