a global metals producer

looking to hire a Global Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Act as the global technical lead for mechanical engineering, providing technical guidance, governance, and engineering support across operational sites.
  • Develop, implement, and improve global mechanical engineering standards, specifications, asset integrity systems, and maintenance strategies in line with operational needs and industry regulations.
  • Lead reliability and equipment performance initiatives to improve safety, plant availability, equipment life, and cost performance across mining, refining, and smelting operations.
  • Provide technical support for operational and capital projects including concept development, equipment selection, technical reviews, engineering risk assessments, and compliance with global standards.
  • Work closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, and asset management teams to support equipment standardization, modernization programs, and long-term engineering capability development.

Key Qualifications / Experience

  • 15\+ years of mechanical engineering experience within heavy industrial operations, including experience in mining, alumina refining, and/or smelting environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in senior engineering leadership, technical authority, or engineering governance roles within multi-site or global organizations.
  • Strong understanding of asset integrity, reliability engineering, maintenance systems, mechanical equipment lifecycle management, and engineering standards.
  • Experience approving or setting global or multi-site mechanical standards.
  • Located or willing to relocate to Netherlands, UK or Norway
