Role - Business Analyst/ Product Owner
Location - NY/ NJ/ Boston MA
Contract to hire
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Product Specifications \& UX Design
- – Author detailed Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- – Create wireframes, mockups, and workflow diagrams (Figma, Balsamiq, or Visio) for investment management platforms.
- – Collaborate with engineering and QA to ensure specs are implemented accurately.
- Investment Domain Expertise
- – Analyze end‑to‑end trade lifecycle: order capture → allocation → confirmation → settlement → cash reconciliation.
- – Work with Portfolio Management Systems (PMS) and Order Management Systems (OMS) across equities, fixed income, and derivatives.
- – Understand cashflow management, collateral optimization, and liquidity monitoring workflows.
- – Experience with alternative investments is a plus, but deep knowledge of traditional stocks/bonds and their trade lifecycles is required.
- Data Analysis
- – Use SQL, Python (Pandas), and Excel to validate trade data, reconcile positions, and support portfolio managers’ decision‑making.
- – Build dashboards (Power BI / Tableau) for operational KPIs and trade exception tracking.
- – Perform data profiling and source‑to‑target mapping for system integrations.
- Stakeholder Management \& Agile Delivery
- – Facilitate workshops with investment operations, compliance, and technology teams.
- – Manage backlog in JIRA/Confluence, prioritize features, and lead sprint ceremonies.
- – Act as the bridge between business users and development teams.
Required Qualifications
- 6–8 years
of Business Analysis experience specifically within
institutional asset management
(not retail wealth or retirement recordkeeping).
- Proven track record of
writing product specifications
(BRDs, FRDs, PRDs) for investment workflow systems.
- Experience designing
UX wireframes
or mockups (Figma, Balsamiq, or similar) – portfolio or examples expected.
- Deep understanding of
trade order management, portfolio management, and cashflow/operations workflows
.
- Strong
SQL skills
(joins, aggregations, data validation).
- Working knowledge of
Python or R
for data analysis (Pandas, NumPy, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in
Excel
(Power Query, pivot tables, VBA macros a plus).
- Excellent communication skills – ability to explain complex trade lifecycles to engineers and UI concepts to portfolio managers.
