JOB TITLE:
Senior Controls / Electrical Engineer - Utility-Scale Energy
LOCATION:
Remote (with periodic travel to Juno Beach, FL - up to 25%)
SCHEDULE:
Full-time
DURATION:
12-Month Contract
PAY:
$62-67/hr
Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will lead and support advanced engineering efforts for
utility-scale solar, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), and power generation projects
. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing
high-level engineering oversight
across project execution and system design
- Leading
multi-disciplinary engineering teams
and guiding technical decision-making
- Supporting
project management, negotiations, and performance tracking/reporting
- Ensuring designs meet
regulatory, safety, and performance standards
- Acting as a technical extension of the engineering team to ensure
system reliability and optimization
- Collaborating with leadership to influence
engineering strategy and infrastructure planning
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Serve as a
technical authority
on engineering standards, best practices, and compliance requirements
- Oversee engineering design,
grid optimization
, and system integration efforts
- Support and guide
project coordination, execution, and commissioning activities
- Perform technical analysis and
risk management for complex energy systems
- Work closely with stakeholders and leadership to solve
advanced engineering challenges
- Ensure successful completion of
FAT/SAT testing and commissioning protocols
- Maintain accountability for
PPA, LGIA, and OEM testing completion
- Support development and implementation of
SCADA, PLC, and control systems
- Ensure alignment with
utility standards, grid interconnection requirements, and long-term reliability goals
Knowledge \& Skills:
- Advanced expertise in
PLC programming
(preferably Schneider Electric platforms)
- Strong knowledge of
industrial communication protocols
(Modbus, DNP3)
- Experience with
Ignition SCADA platform and HMI development
- Deep understanding of
power systems, grid integration, and utility-scale energy projects
- Familiarity with
BESS control systems, inverters, and energy storage technologies
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and system integration skills
- Experience with
commissioning, FAT/SAT testing, and system validation
- Knowledge of
regulatory compliance and utility standards
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Awareness of
NERC CIP cybersecurity standards
(preferred)
Education \& Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in
Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 11\+ years of relevant experience in
controls engineering, power systems, or energy infrastructure
- Proven experience in
utility-scale renewable energy or power generation projects
- Strong background in
system integration, engineering leadership, and project execution
- Experience working across
multi-disciplinary engineering teams
