About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a
Senior Azure Cloud Engineer
to own the design, implementation, security, and ongoing support of a rapidly expanding Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
This individual will serve as the technical lead for Azure infrastructure, partnering closely with IT leadership, cybersecurity, application development, and business stakeholders to build secure, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions. The environment supports healthcare data integrations, analytics, AI initiatives, enterprise applications, and regulated healthcare information.
What You'll Do
Azure Cloud Infrastructure
- Design, deploy, and manage enterprise Azure environments.
- Build and maintain Azure networking, virtual networks, private endpoints, DNS, firewalls, and connectivity.
- Deploy and support Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Container Apps, and related platform services.
- Design high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
- Manage Azure subscriptions, governance, resource groups, and policies.
Cloud Security \& Compliance
- Implement Azure security best practices across cloud workloads.
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, Managed Identities, and Azure Key Vault.
- Support HIPAA, NIST, and other cybersecurity compliance initiatives.
- Participate in security audits, vulnerability remediation, and incident response.
Infrastructure as Code \& Automation
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep.
- Develop automated deployment pipelines and provisioning processes.
- Create technical documentation and cloud architecture standards.
- Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and related tools.
Cloud Operations
- Support Azure-based healthcare data integrations and interoperability initiatives.
- Partner with application and data teams to enable analytics, reporting, and AI workloads.
- Manage Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous improvement.
Cost Optimization
- Monitor Azure consumption and spending.
- Recommend and implement cost optimization strategies.
- Develop forecasting and cost estimates for new cloud initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7\+ years administering Microsoft Azure environments.
- Strong experience with Terraform, Bicep, or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Experience deploying Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Container Apps, and containerized workloads.
- Expertise in Azure networking, cloud security, and identity management.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Policy, RBAC, Key Vault, and Managed Identities.
- Experience with Azure monitoring and operational support.
- At least 2 years supporting healthcare interoperability or EHR integrations.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA security requirements.
Preferred
- Microsoft Azure certifications (Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, etc.).
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps.
- Exposure to AI, machine learning, analytics, or enterprise data platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, and Zero Trust architecture.
