Human Resources Generalist at Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, Southfield Michigan.

The Human Resources Generalis is responsible for providing human resources administrative support functions in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and standards. The scope of this role has responsibility for multi-site recruitment, file management and compliance, data entry and systems management, orientation, and all functions of the human resources department as directed by supervisor.

- Assists departments in targeting recruitment efforts including advertising or posting of job vacancies, select applicants meeting specified job requirements, and interviewing job
applicants to obtain and verify information used to screen and evaluate them.
- Collect information from regulatory offices, previous employers and other references to determine applicant’s employment acceptability.
- Inform job applicants of their acceptance or rejection of employment. Maintains applications as required by record retention policy.
- Reviews, tracks and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training,
professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Conduct new hire orientation to explain company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees and recognition programs.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Process, verify, and maintain personnel related documentation, including legally required documents, training, grievances, performance evaluations, classifications, and employee
leaves of absence.
- Record data for each employee, including such information as addresses, absences, supervisory reports on performance, and dates of and reasons for terminations.
- Attends and participates in in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations, as needed.
- Answer questions regarding benefits, policies, and other pertinent information.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain
compliance.
- Update and manage all software systems and HR website, and provide regular data and reports.
- Provide assistance in administering employee benefit programs and worker’s compensation claims.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.
- Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, a plus.
HR Certification a plus (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP, or advanced certification a plus, not required).
Two to four years related experience
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems. (UKG, Workforce, PayActiv, iCims, Relias Learning, Basic)
