An exciting opportunity now exists for an experienced procurement leader to join Council as Manager Procurement and Contract Services.

Reporting to the Director Business Services, this leadership role will be responsible for leading Council's procurement, contract management and purchasing functions, ensuring procurement, and contracting activities are undertaken in accordance with legislative requirements, probity principles, policy frameworks, and best-practice governance standards.

Leading teams across Procurement, Contracts and Purchasing, you will provide expert advice, education and guidance to managers and stakeholders across the organisation, helping to deliver value-for-money outcomes, manage risk and strengthen procurement capability across Council. The role also plays a key part in contract governance, supplier management, procurement assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished leader who is passionate about governance, compliance, and organisational improvement. You will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and senior stakeholders, influencing procurement practices across a diverse and complex organisation with procurement and contract expenditure exceeding $80 million annually.

About You

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in procurement, supply chain management, project management, business, or a related discipline.
  • Significant leadership experience within local government, the public sector, or a large and complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated success leading procurement and contract management functions in a highly regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement legislation, probity, governance, risk management, and contract administration.
  • Experience developing procurement frameworks, policies, systems, and practices that enhance compliance, efficiency, and organisational outcomes.
  • Ability to build high-performing teams and foster a positive, customer-focused culture.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience preparing high-level reports and advice for executive audiences.
  • Experience utilising procurement systems, ERP platforms, and data analytics to support informed decision-making, compliance and continuous improvement.

Your commencing annual salary will range from

$195,100 to $226,862 \+ Leaseback Vehicle \+ Superannuation

, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
