Job Description
Join Us!
At Google Operations Center we help Google users and customers solve problems and achieve their goals—all while enjoying a culture focused on improving continuously and being better together. We work hard, we play hard, and we want you to join us!
As a Sourcing Specialist, you will serve as the operational backbone of our procurement function, bridging the gap between internal business partners and the external supplier market. You will manage the full lifecycle of sourcing requests - from intake to contract handoff. Your goal goes beyond simply executing purchases; you are here to optimize value, accelerate turnaround time (TAT), and deliver a seamless, data-driven experience for our stakeholders. Ultimately, you will ensure that every dollar spent is heavily scrutinized for efficiency, mitigated risk, and maximum business impact.
In this capacity, you will also lead highly sensitive, restricted, or confidential (Need-to-Know/ NTK) procurement projects. Acting as the sole Case Owner, you will drive end-to-end tactical execution, spend analytics, commercial negotiations, and data governance. You will act as a critical data-security and operational gatekeeper, ensuring all strategic procurement guidelines are met while strictly maintaining secure environments to prevent unauthorized information exposure.
Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities
- Sourcing Intake \& Strategy Formulation
- Manage highly sensitive case intakes while applying strict access controls to ensure data compartmentalization.
- Partner with business stakeholders to securely validate requirements and gather documentation.
- Create and present Opportunity Overviews (OO) outlining baseline spend, market constraints, and the proposed sourcing strategy for approval.
- Act as the sole Case Owner in procurement tools, maintaining impeccable, restricted-access records and unique identifiers to provide real-time, secure visibility into the sourcing pipeline.
- Confidential End-to-End RFx Execution
- Conduct discrete market research to pre-qualify suppliers. Lead the preparation, drafting, and secure distribution of comprehensive RFx bid packages using Google-approved e-sourcing tools.
- Serve as the primary, secure point of contact for suppliers.
- Orchestrate question and answer cycles, enforce timelines, and facilitate supplier solution presentations and evaluation scoring committees within secure environments.
- Perform rigorous quantitative analysis to normalize supplier bids. Create qualitative scoring matrices and deliver Project Outcome Alignment (POA) reports that offer data-backed recommendations for stakeholder approval.
- Data-Driven Commercial Negotiations \& Award
- Conduct rate card benchmarking, scenario modeling, and financial validations utilizing internal and external databases to fuel high-stakes negotiations.
- Lead commercial and contractual negotiations for high-complexity, highly restricted categories, driving savings targets and value capture in strict alignment with Google Procurement standards.
- Manage award/non-award notifications and finalize all commercial exhibits (pricing tables, SOWs, SLAs) to ensure they are audit-ready before facilitating a seamless, secure handoff to the Legal/Contracting Operations team.
- Operational Excellence \& Continuous Improvement
- Security \& Risk Governance: Act as a critical data-security gatekeeper. Proactively manage the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) workflow, ensuring suppliers complete necessary security and privacy reviews prior to award without exposing confidential project details.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on key operational metrics, including Turnaround Time (TAT), Hard/Soft Savings, and Spend Under Management (SUM).
- Process Innovation: Analyze sourcing data to identify bottlenecks. Proactively update SOPs, playbooks, and templates to reduce cycle times and enhance user satisfaction while maintaining strict compliance with Google procurement policies.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Economics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5\+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, indirect procurement, project management, or supply chain operations, ideally within a high-compliance or corporate shared-services environment.
- Proven sourcing experience in at least one of the following categories: Professional Services, Marketing (creative, production, agencies), or Corporate Security.
- Strong proficiency in building cost-benefit analyses, performing spend analytics, and utilizing data visualization tools to present insights.
- Demonstrated understanding of contract commercial terms, legal structures, and negotiation levers to optimize value and mitigate risk.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders, manage expectations, and pivot sourcing strategies quickly in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment without losing operational momentum.
- Experience navigating strict corporate compliance frameworks.
- A "process-first" mindset with a track record of identifying workflow inefficiencies and implementing process improvements or automation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable.
- Certifications: Professional certification in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, MCIPS, or CSCP) is highly preferred.
Benefits
- We support you with competitive wages and with comprehensive health care including medical, dental and vision coverage
- We support your family with gender-neutral baby bonding leave, 18 week birth-parent maternity leave, and generous life, accident and disability insurance minimums
- Employees who work onsite can enjoy free meals and snacks, and fun onsite experiences
