Transform a High-Traffic Content Platform

We're seeking an experienced Web Developer to lead a large-scale Headless CMS migration for a globally recognized technology organization. This is an opportunity to own the end-to-end migration of a high-visibility content platform from WordPress to Contentful while partnering closely with an established in-house web development team.

What You'll Do

• Lead the migration of a large content library from WordPress to Contentful
• Design and implement scalable Contentful content models for articles, landing pages, authors, taxonomies, reusable content components, and flexible page-building capabilities
• Develop migration tooling to move content, media assets, metadata, taxonomies, and redirects into Contentful
• Create idempotent, repeatable migration scripts that support multiple testing and validation cycles
• Refactor and maintain a standalone Next.js application hosted on Vercel
• Build and support critical runtime functionality including:
• SEO optimization
• Structured data
• XML sitemaps
• hreflang implementation
• Redirect management
• Contentful Preview functionality
• Ensure URL structures, SEO equity, search rankings, and content discoverability are preserved throughout the migration
• Execute phased production cutovers, including dress rehearsals, authoring freezes, and staged launches
• Partner with engineering, content, and SEO stakeholders to drive go/no-go decisions during launch phases
• Train content authors and stakeholders on the new Contentful authoring experience
• Support post-launch stabilization and eventual retirement of legacy WordPress infrastructure

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

• Strong professional experience with TypeScript and Node.js in production environments
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining modern web applications
• Experience with headless CMS platforms, particularly Contentful
• Familiarity with:
• Contentful Content Management API
• Delivery API
• Preview API
• Webhooks
• Experience building migration tooling, ETL workflows, or large-scale content migrations
• Strong testing practices, especially around data transformation and migration logic (Vitest or similar frameworks)
• Experience with Next.js and modern React-based architectures
• Understanding of SEO best practices and technical SEO considerations during platform migrations
• Comfortable working with feature flags, deployment controls, and production risk management
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
