The University of South Dakota is seeking a
Training and Development Coordinator
to help build and deliver a comprehensive employee training and development program that supports faculty, staff, supervisors, managers, and institutional leaders. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking Human Resources team and play a key role in advancing employee growth, leadership development, and organizational excellence across the university.
At USD, we are moving beyond one-time training events to create meaningful learning experiences that foster competency development, demonstrated application, and professional mastery. As the Training and Development Coordinator, you will help design learning programs, coordinate training initiatives, support leadership development programming, administer learning platforms, and partner with subject matter experts across campus to strengthen training quality and effectiveness.
What You’ll Do
- Design and coordinate engaging in-person, virtual, and online learning experiences.
- Develop training materials, job aids, guides, and competency-based learning tools.
- Administer learning management systems and track participation, completion, and learning outcomes.
- Coordinate leadership and supervisor development programs.
- Partner with academic and administrative units to improve training content, accessibility, and effectiveness.
- Support the creation of role-based learning pathways for employees at all levels.
- Analyze training data and provide insights to support continuous improvement and organizational development initiatives.
- Help build a culture of continuous learning and professional growth across the university.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, Communication, or a related field.
- At least two years of related professional experience.
- Experience coordinating training programs, facilitating learning experiences, instructional design, learning management systems, or employee development initiatives.
- Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across a complex organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing competency-based learning programs.
- Experience with leadership development programming.
- Experience working in higher education or another large, decentralized organization.
- Strengths Certification or similar professional development credentials.
