Introduction:
ARServices is seeking an experienced and service-oriented
Human Resources Generalist
to lead day-to-day HR operations across our growing government contracting organization. This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional employee experiences. You will serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, independently managing core HR operations while escalating complex or strategic matters to the Sr. Director, People Operations. This position is the operational backbone of the People Operations function, supporting onboarding, employee relations, benefits, compliance, and employee engagement initiatives.
Position Description:
The Human Resources Generalist will act as the primary operational HR resource, managing the full employee lifecycle from onboarding through separation. You will ensure consistent, compliant, and responsive administration of HR policies and programs while supporting employee relations, benefits, leave management, and special projects—enabling the People Operations team to focus on strategic initiatives and fostering a positive, high-performing workplace culture.
Location \& Travel:
This is a full-time position based at ARServices in Alexandria, VA, with minimal travel expected.

A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for routine employee and supervisory HR inquiries.
- Coordinate and administer employee onboarding, orientation, integration, and separation activities.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to support pre-employment activities and ensure completion of all onboarding requirements.
- Prepare and process employment-related documentation, including compensation changes, promotions, transfers, status changes, and separation paperwork.
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data.
- Monitor HR processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Respond to employee concerns and workplace issues in a timely, professional, and confidential manner.
- Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on company policies, procedures, and employment practices.
- Support managers with performance management, corrective action, and employee documentation processes.
- Assist with annual Open Enrollment activities and employee communications.
- Administer leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, military leave, and other protected leave types.
- Support policy implementation, employee acknowledgments, and required training.
- Support employee engagement, recognition, and company event initiatives.
- Prepare reports, presentations, workforce metrics, and other HR-related materials as requested.
- Participate in special projects and People Operations initiatives.
- Promote a positive employee experience through responsive, professional, and customer-focused HR support.
- All other duties as assigned.
Security Clearance Requirement:
U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4\+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Experience supporting employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, and HR operations.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS platforms.
- Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Qualifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Human Resources experience within a federal government contracting (GovCon) environment.
- Experience with Paychex Flex or similar HRIS systems.
- Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.
