Job Description
Cape Town based Business Research Position
Core responsibilities include
:
- Develop investor theses for each mandate by identifying strategic acquirers, private equity platforms and family offices aligned with sector dynamics
- Segment and prioritize buyers based on acquisition history, capital availability, strategic fit and competitive positioning
- Research using a variety of databases, AI, trade resources and online searches
- Assist in sourcing accurate contact information for potential buyers
-Analyze M\&A trends, capital flows and transaction comps within target industries
-Create customized presentation materials in powerpoint for client pitches
- Contribute to Mariner's overall marketing-driven process
Please note that while this role does require strong numeracy skills, it does not include financial analysis or modelling.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1 to 5 years experience
- A critical and creative thinker, with innate curiosity \& a passion for data search
- Detail-oriented
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
- Must already live in Cape Town!
- Strong skills in MS Office Suite (Especially Excel)
- Efficient
Desirable:
Familiarity with Sugar CRM platform
Knowledge of S\&P Capital IQ, Pitchbook, ZoomInfo, and IbisWorld or other business research tools.
