New Hire Experience:
$500 for each full-time year of certified teaching or verified like experience
New Hire Education:
$65/hour of graduate level credits: BA \+45 hours max, MA \+60 hours max $1000 for advanced degrees
Job Summary:
The classroom teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and indirectly through special area assignments. The teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all students.
Candidates must complete an
on-line
application which requires appropriate Arizona certification, valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card, evidence of highly qualified status, three letters of recommendation, and transcript of credits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials
- Plan, prepare, and implement instructional activities that actively engage students in meaningful learning experiences appropriate to their maturity and interests utilizing a variety of effective instructional and management techniques
- Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students
- Create instructional materials and assessment documents that align with learning objectives and delivery of instruction
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, etc. and effectively communicate objectives to students
- Diagnose the learning strengths and weaknesses of students on a regular basis
- Provide a positive and safe environment that is conducive to learning
- Communicate an expectation of success for all students and provide constructive and detailed feedback to help students achieve academic success
- Establish positive relationships and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning academic and behavior progress
- Establish, support, and administer positive classroom and campus management in accordance with board policies and administrative regulations
- Establish and maintain effective and efficient recordkeeping procedures to ensure complete and accurate records as required by district, state and federal guidelines and regulations
- Utilize the collection of student data to make instructional and management decisions to enhance student achievement
- Demonstrate gains in student performance
- Promote Montessori philosophy, teaching practices and enrollment by conducting facility tours and program orientation as needed to support maximum preschool enrollment
- Collaborate with other professionals to enhance the instructional environment; be an effective team member
- Meet deadlines, adhere to schedules, and coordinate resources in an effective and timely manner
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain and improve professional competence
- Exhibit professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor
- Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Current Arizona teaching certificate with evidence of highly qualified status
- Montessori certification
- Three years of successful teaching experience
- Montessori teaching experience (Preferred)

- Staying updated on new research in early childhood and Montessori education
Work Environment \& Physical Requirements:
- Montessori classrooms are spacious, organized, and designed for mixed-age groups (e.g., 3-6 years, 6-9 years, etc.)
- The environment is calm and respectful, with children engaging in individual or small-group activities rather than whole-class instruction
- Teachers regularly communicate with parents about student progress and may conduct parent education sessions
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor; teachers often sit on the floor or child-sized furniture to interact with students
- Montessori classrooms include hands-on materials that may require lifting and arranging up to 25 lbs.
