Job Description

Why join the Novacore team?

Because your next stellar chapter starts here — and we’re building something bold and meaningful.

At Novacore, we’re not your average insurance company. We’re a team of driven professionals passionate about redefining the specialty insurance experience for our agents, carrier partners — and for each other.

We specialize in tailored solutions for niche industries, powered by advanced analytics, modern technology and a culture of innovation. Backed by strong leadership and strategic growth initiatives, Novacore is poised to scale and lead in the specialty insurance market.

But at our core, we believe it’s not just what we do — it’s

how

we do it and

who

we do it with.

Recognized as a top workplace, Novacore is a place where ambition is supported, growth is continuous and culture matters. From day one, you’ll find mentorship, hands-on learning and clear paths for advancement. You’ll grow your skills, expand your expertise and become even more exceptional — because when you succeed, we all do.

We Offer

  • A collaborative, results-driven environment
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
  • Year-round social and community events
  • Ongoing mentorship and professional development
  • Endless opportunities for upward mobility

So if you're ready to be part of something extraordinary — with a team that’s transforming commercial insurance — we want to meet you.

Pricing Actuary

As an Actuarial Analyst on the founding actuarial team, you'll work directly alongside the Chief Actuary to drive pricing strategy, build predictive models, and embed AI into every actuarial workflow across 20\+ specialty insurance programs. This isn't a role where you inherit processes — you'll create them. From developing proprietary risk models to building on next-generation rating, your week will never look the same twice.

We're looking for someone who thinks like an actuary and builds like a modern AI-forward data scientist. If you want to be at the intersection of actuarial science, modern data science, and AI — with a direct line to senior leadership — this is the role.

We're looking for someone who lives close to the Conshohocken, PA Home Office, or the NYC metro area, where coming into the Conshohcken Office a few times a month wont be an issue.

Responsibilities

Pricing \& Reserving

  • Develop and maintain pricing models across diverse commercial lines — from standard GL and property to niche programs like space, aviation, and habitational
  • Perform loss ratio analysis, rate adequacy reviews, and experience studies to support carrier and reinsurer relationships
  • Build and refine rating algorithms for integration into modern pricing tools and policy administration platforms

Catastrophe \& Risk Modeling

  • Build proprietary risk models using public to create granular risk territories
  • Support catastrophe aggregation monitoring across programs
  • Collaborate with reinsurance brokers and carrier partners on submission strategy

Data Science \& AI

  • Apply modern data science techniques — predictive modeling, GLMs, gradient boosting, clustering — to actuarial problems
  • Leverage AI tools (LLMs, agentic workflows, Claude) to automate and augment actuarial processes: data extraction, report generation, and more
  • Partner with data engineering to build and improve data pipelines that feed actuarial models and dashboards

Cross-Functional Impact

  • Work directly with underwriting, claims, analytics, engineering, and program leadership across Novacore's portfolio
  • Contribute to tech stack decisions — you'll evaluate platforms, prototype solutions, and help build the actuarial infrastructure from scratch
  • Support strategic initiatives including M\&A due diligence, new program launches, and carrier capacity negotiations

Qualifications

Foundation

  • Strong grounding in mathematical statistics, actuarial science, and practical insurance fundamentals
  • P\&C insurance experience — commercial lines and/or MGA/program business preferred
  • Progress toward CAS or SOA designation is valued; ACAS/FCAS is a plus but not required — we care more about what you have done or can do.

Technical

  • Programming proficiency in Python, R, and/or SQL — you don't need to be a software engineer, but you should be comfortable building things
  • Experience with actuarial pricing, reserving, or predictive modeling
  • Familiarity with modern data tools: version control (Git), cloud platforms, BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), or notebook environments (Jupyter)

The AI-Native Mindset

  • You already use AI tools in your daily workflow
  • Curiosity about how LLMs, agentic frameworks, and automation can transform traditional actuarial workflows
  • Willingness to prototype, experiment, and ship — not just theorize

The Human Stuff

  • Hunger, conscientiousness, and genuine desire to learn and grow
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity — this is a founding team, not a mature department with documented SOPs
  • Ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts to non-actuarial stakeholders (underwriters, leadership, carrier partners)
