Mechanical Engineer – Forensics
📍 Remote - Office locations throughout the East Coast, Texas, and West Coast.

, where senior engineers are trusted to lead investigations, develop defensible technical opinions, and contribute to matters that extend well beyond traditional design roles.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer within the forensic practice, you will play a key role in investigating failures, damages, and performance issues across a wide range of building systems and facilities. You will work directly with attorneys, building owners, insurers, contractors, and other stakeholders, providing clear, evidence-based engineering conclusions grounded in sound scientific principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and conduct forensic investigations involving mechanical systems within the built environment and industrial facilities
- Perform field investigations, condition assessments, root cause analysis, and damage evaluations
- Analyze building codes, standards, construction practices, and professional standards of care
- Manage forensic projects from initial intake through final deliverables
- Prepare clear, well-supported technical reports expressing engineering opinions and conclusions
- Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams on complex assignments
- Support business development activities, including industry events and client engagement
- Serve as an expert witness in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, or trials, with firm support and guidance as needed
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 6\+ years of experience in mechanical design, investigation, or forensic engineering
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in at least one jurisdiction, with ability to obtain additional licensure
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to clearly articulate engineering opinions
- Experience managing projects and mentoring or supporting junior engineers
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across disciplines
- Willingness to travel for short durations as required for project work
