Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate and evaluate Speech Pathology services and provide diagnostic and
perform therapeutic clinical services (habitation and rehabilitation) at specialized level to
patients with swallowing disorders, various stages of speech disorders (articulation,
nasality and dysarthria), voice disorders (organic, functional vocal disorders, psychogenic
and minimal associated pathology lesson) including language cognitive, oral muscular
and augmentative communication problems.
- Assess and administer dysfluency difficulties. Treat patients with language disorders
specific brain injury (dysphasia and associate disorders). Provide therapy to special
population including (children with hearing impairment, children with autism, and children
with cerebral palsy).
- Develop, maintain and disseminate resources and knowledge in area of clinical expertise.
- Participate in monitoring the allocation of Speech Pathologists, SCDPs and interns in clinical areas. Coordinate caseload and advise on policy and procedures in area of specialty.
- Participate in the development of departmental policies and procedures. Coordinate departmental educational activities.
- Develop and disseminate patient educational materials; organize and participate in patient/health educational activities within the hospital and throughout the community.
- Participate in developing and implementing training programs to staff; organizing orientation and continuing education programs for subordinate level staff including internship program for students. Provide practical training activities and assignments. Maintain responsibility for trainee evaluation.
- Conduct and participate in research studies related to Speech Pathology performed in the Hospital, as required.
- Involve parents and cares in the treatment, review and rehabilitation of patients;
- Educate patients and their cares about how to prevent and/or improve conditions;
- Write patient case notes and reports and collect statistics;
- Liaise with other healthcare professionals, to exchange information about the background and progress of patients, as well as to refer patients who require other medical attention.
Qualifications:
- BS in Speech Pathology or related discipline.
