**I’m recruiting a Cloud Engineer for an AWS/GCP and Terraform environment with 1-5 years' experience to work
onsite
downtown San Francisco for a very cool, fast growing space firm. You must have excellent communication skills, and be motivated and ambitious. Our client's location is easily reached by BART, Caltrains or bus. This is a 3 month CTH to FTE position.**
Note: You must be a US Citizen and able to pass a strict background screen due to the nature of this firm’s work. NO C2C/visa holders/OPT/F1 will be considered.
This role supports Cloud Ops/Infrastructure Administration supporting operations and other internal development groups. The skills we seek are: AWS, Terraform, Python, and Bash/GO and an excellent communicator. If you have GCP, that's also fine. If not, you'll learn it. The team designs, deploys and manages AWS and GCP permissions, creates projects/accounts, network services and other ad-hoc tasks. They use Terraform for provisioning, bash or python for scripting and automation. Success means translating complex infrastructure patterns into clear, user-friendly documentation and self-service tools that empower other engineers.
This team often works early morning to early afternoon hours to support EST and Europe partners. If you are an early riser, you could work \~ 6:30am - 2:30pm, or 8am to 4pm.
This 3 month CTH to FTE offers an expected base salary of \~ $110-140k DOE. Hourly W2 pay is between $55-70/hour W2 DOE. We offer medical, dental, and a Roth IRA, we contribute $$ towards your medical premium, and have mandated PTO in SF. Conversion to FTE is expected to be next year. The client has excellent benefits.
The Role:
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code on GCP and AWS
- Automate operational tasks and improve system reliability through scripting
- Implement and manage networking solutions within cloud environments to ensure secure and efficient data flow
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our cloud platforms
- Write clear, concise documentation, runbooks, and architectural diagrams to scale knowledge across our engineering org.
- Actively participate in design reviews and technical discussions, translating internal stakeholder requirements into reliable infrastructure solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2\+ years of relevant and proficient experience in AWS (GCP is great to have too)
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Experience with scripting languages (Bash)
- Experience with programming languages (Python, Golang)
- Strong technical and interpersonal communication skills—the ability to articulate complex infrastructure concepts to highly technical peers and cross-functional stakeholders and create runbooks and diagrams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar
Preferred:
- Experience with CICD GitOps development (GitLab / GitHub Actions)
- Experience administering and troubleshooting Linux systems
- Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or cloud-native logging (BigQuery/Cloud Logging, CloudWatch) to debug complex distributed system failures.
