Job Description

Here at Investa, we’re all about creating spaces that reflect how people work, live, and thrive today—and how they’ll want to do so in the future. For over 20 years, we’ve led the way in making positive change in Australia’s workplaces. We’re an Australian diversified real estate company with a recognised track record of investment and development across both office and living markets. Our purpose is to welcome the world to better places. We’re people first and entrepreneurial, with a strong service ethos.

Why join us?

We’ve made it our business to understand how people want to live and work today, tomorrow and beyond and, as you’d expect, we practise what we preach in our own workplace as well. We’re known for our supportive, inclusive and flexible work culture. With recognition from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, the Australian Workplace Equality Index and multiple awards for workplace flexibility, our people and the way we work together are our difference.

As our

AI Platform Engineer

, you'll build on strong foundations to scale Investa's AI application platform. The groundwork is done — core infrastructure, tooling and governance are in place — and we're now looking for someone to build, extend and mature the applications that run on top of it. Working at the intersection of software engineering, cloud architecture and AI, you'll design, develop and deploy secure, scalable AI-powered applications on Microsoft Azure that deliver real business value across the organisation.

As our technical expert in this space, you'll work directly with technology leadership and business stakeholders, collaborating closely with teams who are already embracing AI-assisted development. You'll have the autonomy to shape architecture, evolve our engineering standards and drive the next stage of our AI capabilities in a flat, fast-moving environment.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Design, build and deploy secure, cloud-native AI applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Develop scalable backend services using Python or Node.js and modern frontend interfaces using React.
  • Build and maintain integrations with AI models, including prompt management, RAG pipelines and AI tooling orchestration.
  • Develop APIs and integrate AI solutions with enterprise platforms and Azure-native services.
  • Enhance and maintain DevSecOps best practices across GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and application security.
  • Further develop robust security controls, authentication, secrets management and monitoring across the AI platform.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical, high-quality technical solutions.
  • Coordinate external delivery partners where required and maintain technical documentation to support long-term platform sustainability.

What you bring:

  • 5\+ years' experience in software engineering, with strong backend development skills in Python or Node.js/TypeScript.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Bicep or Terraform).
  • Strong understanding of application security principles, secure API development and modern authentication methods.
  • Experience building scalable applications using AI or large language model (LLM) technologies such as Anthropic Claude, OpenAI or similar is highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and work collaboratively across the business.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to work autonomously and make sound technical decisions.
  • Curiosity and passion for emerging AI technologies, with a desire to continually learn and improve.
