Overview
For more than 40 years, MaGrann Associates has been an innovative leader in energy efficiency engineering and green building consulting. We are headquartered in Mount Laurel, NJ with offices in Philadelphia, New York, Washington DC, and Connecticut, and operations throughout the Northeast region.
MaGrann Associates is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer valid P.E. license. The Selected candidate will be able to lead a team by providing electrical and power engineering design services on a variety of multi-family residential, mixed-use, and commercial building projects (including both new construction and existing building retrofits). The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the preparation and oversight of contract plans and specifications for multiple concurrent projects. This includes performing complex engineering calculations, conducting detailed systems analysis, ensuring quality control on deliverables, and coordinating field and construction activities.
The Senior Electrical Engineer reports to the Manager of Building Performance Services and collaborates closely with the Director of Engineering, VP of Technical Services, and other internal and partner engineers and disciplines.
This position is based at our corporate office in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Experience with a virtual work environment is beneficial, and working from an alternate location may be considered.
Principal Duties:
- Performs and oversees the design and layout of power distribution systems, electrical devices, lighting systems, controls, and related equipment.
- Prepares and reviews engineering specifications and ensures coordination with other design disciplines.
- Conducts initial site investigations and field observations of work performed by installing contractors.
- Directs and quality-checks the production of construction documents (drawings and specifications) for new buildings, renovations, and additions.
- Manages, mentors, and reviews the technical work of electrical designers, engineers, and CAD Specialists.
- Provides advanced technical guidance to clients and internal project teams.
- Coordinates electrical system designs with other engineering disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions.
- Develops and maintains strong client relationships, serving as a senior technical representative.
- Assists with the preparation and review of project fee proposals and cost estimates.
- Ensures appropriate coordination of new electrical service with applicable utility providers.
- Interfaces with local regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with design standards and codes.
- Coordinates project schedules with Project Managers and provides leadership on technical planning.
- Conducts project cost analyses and value-engineering assessments as needed.
- Reviews shop drawings, resolves field issues, and prepares detailed field reports.
- Actively participates in professional engineering associations and industry organizations.
Minmum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional engineering experience, including electrical and power engineering design for buildings (multifamily and commercial experience preferred).
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
- Demonstrated experience designing sustainable, energy-efficient, and high-performance building systems.
- Experience conducting on-site surveys and field assessments.
- Proficiency with Autodesk building suite.
- Familiarity with Visual Lite or similar lighting calculation software is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Highly collaborative team player with strong leadership capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
