About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated

Senior Consultant/Manager – Logistics Operations \& Transformation

to join our growing Supply Chain Execution practice. This role is ideal for an experienced logistics professional who combines operational expertise, analytical rigor, and client-facing consulting skills.

The successful candidate will serve as a key delivery leader across a wide range of logistics engagements, including distribution strategy, transportation optimization, 3PL evaluation and selection, fulfillment operations, logistics technology implementation, and network optimization initiatives.

This role is designed for a hands-on problem solver who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, working directly with clients, analyzing complex data, and helping organizations improve the performance of their logistics networks. The position will work closely with the Practice Lead and serve as a trusted advisor to clients while helping build and grow a market-leading logistics consulting practice.

What You'll Do

This is a hands-on role for someone who can analyze data in Excel in the morning, facilitate a client workshop in the afternoon, walk a warehouse operation the next day, and help lead a 3PL selection project the following week. The ideal candidate has strong logistics operations experience, enjoys solving complex problems, and wants to grow into a future supply chain consulting leader.

Logistics Strategy \& Network Optimization

  • Assess current-state logistics networks and operating models
  • Conduct distribution network analyses and optimization studies
  • Perform transportation and fulfillment cost modeling
  • Support facility location and greenfield distribution center assessments
  • Develop business cases supporting logistics transformation initiatives
  • Evaluate inventory placement and customer service strategies
  • Analyze labor, transportation, and facility tradeoffs

3PL Evaluation, Selection \& Implementation

  • Facilitate logistics strategy and outsourcing assessments
  • Develop RFIs and RFPs for warehousing, transportation, and logistics providers
  • Lead requirements gathering workshops
  • Manage provider communications and evaluations
  • Build scoring models and recommendation materials
  • Conduct site visits and operational assessments
  • Support contract negotiations and provider selection
  • Assist with implementation planning, transition management, and go-live support

Transportation Strategy \& Optimization

  • Analyze transportation spend, service, and carrier performance
  • Evaluate carrier networks and operating models
  • Support parcel, LTL, truckload, and managed transportation sourcing events
  • Assess transportation technology platforms and capabilities
  • Develop transportation KPI frameworks and governance structures
  • Identify freight optimization opportunities and cost reduction initiatives

Distribution \& Fulfillment Operations

  • Conduct warehouse operational assessments
  • Facilitate process mapping and process improvement initiatives
  • Perform labor productivity and capacity analyses
  • Evaluate warehouse operational performance and best practices
  • Support startup, stabilization, and optimization of distribution operations
  • Develop SOPs, governance models, and operational metrics

Technology Selection \& Implementation

  • Develop business and functional requirements
  • Support TMS, transportation visibility, shipping, and logistics technology evaluations
  • Conduct vendor assessments and software demonstrations
  • Assist with implementation planning and project management
  • Support testing, training, and operational readiness activities

Client Delivery \& Project Leadership

  • Lead client workshops and working sessions
  • Build executive-ready presentations, analyses, and recommendations
  • Develop project plans, status reports, and executive updates
  • Manage project tasks, risks, and action items
  • Build strong client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor
  • Contribute to practice development, methodologies, and business development efforts

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, distribution, transportation, consulting, or operations leadership
  • Strong understanding of warehouse and transportation operations
  • Experience analyzing large data sets and developing business insights
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Project management experience with multiple stakeholders
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience facilitating workshops and client meetings
  • Strong business writing and presentation capabilities

Preferred Experience

  • Supply chain consulting experience
  • Experience leading or participating in 3PL evaluations and sourcing initiatives
  • Distribution center startup, implementation, or transition experience
  • Transportation sourcing or carrier management experience
  • Network modeling or supply chain analytics experience
  • Experience supporting logistics technology implementations
  • Retail, apparel, consumer products, or omnichannel fulfillment experience
  • Knowledge of Walmart, Target, Amazon, Kohl's, and other major retail compliance requirements
  • PMP, Lean, or Six Sigma certifications

Salary Range: $90,000-$220,000
