Job Description
Job description
SetSwap is a purpose-built digital platform for the film and television industry. We help productions, studios, and vendors buy, sell, rent, donate, track, store, and reuse production assets, keeping usable materials out of landfills and putting them back to work. We are an early-stage, in-person team based in Los Angeles, building the operational foundation of the company right now.
The Operations Manager owns SetSwap's operational backbone. This is the person who turns a young platform into a business that runs predictably: designing the standard operating procedures, building the inventory and fulfillment systems, and keeping logistics, vendors, and internal teams aligned as we scale. You will be building these systems from scratch, not inheriting them, and you will be hands-on in the field as much as at the desk.
Success in this role, in the first 90 days, looks like: documented SOPs for how assets move through the platform, a working inventory and retrieval process that holds up under real use, and clear operational coordination across shipping partners and internal teams. Over time, success means an operation that scales without breaking and a function you increasingly own and grow.
This role reports to the founder and works cross-functionally with product, finance, and field teams. It is a high-ownership, high-trust seat on a small team, well suited to someone who is energized by ambiguity and wants to build something rather than maintain it.
Responsibilities
- Design, document, and maintain standard operating procedures across asset intake, storage, fulfillment, and resale workflows
- Build and own the inventory and asset-retrieval systems that ensure listed items can be reliably located, packed, and shipped
- Coordinate shipping and logistics, including relationships with carriers, third-party logistics providers, and freight, across both parcel and large-format shipments
- Operate within and around union labor environments common to entertainment (IATSE, Teamsters), partnering with the founder and legal as needed
- Manage day-to-day operational execution across the Marketplace, RentalSpace, Asset, and Storage modules
- Translate company strategy into repeatable, measurable operational processes and continuously improve them based on real-world performance
- Work on site at warehouses and operational locations in the Los Angeles area, including hands-on inventory and logistics work in the early stage
- Partner cross-functionally with product, finance, and field teams to keep operations aligned as the company scales
Qualifications
- 4\+ years in operations, logistics, supply chain, or a closely related field, including experience standing up processes from scratch rather than only operating within existing ones
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing SOPs that were actually adopted, not just documented
- Hands-on inventory, fulfillment, or distribution experience, with comfort doing the work directly in an early-stage environment
- Working knowledge of shipping and logistics, including carrier or 3PL coordination; freight or large-format shipping experience a plus
- Familiarity with, or demonstrated ability to quickly ramp on, union labor environments (IATSE, Teamsters experience a strong plus)
- Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- High tolerance for ambiguity and a genuine preference for building over maintaining
- Based in or able to reliably work in person in the Los Angeles area
- Interest in sustainability or the circular economy, and comfort in or curiosity about the entertainment production environment, a plus
