Salary Grade:

Business Grade 08/ BG-08

Position Summary:

The Occupational Therapist works as an itinerant therapist to provide educationally necessary therapeutic intervention in the area of motor skill development, focusing primarily on visual motor, fine motor, bilateral coordination, self-help, and sensorimotor development. Services are provided in a variety of school settings, ranging from age 3 through

grade 12\.

Key Functions

  • Conduct standardized and informal assessments to determine students' need for occupational therapy services
  • Develop and deliver direct, collaborative, monitor, and consultative therapeutic services aligned to IEP goals
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and outside agencies to support student progress
  • Maintain compliant documentation in EdPlan and meet District, State, and Federal special education requirements
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants when assigned, in accordance with State OTA supervision guidelines

Education

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing occupational therapy services

Licenses And Certifications

  • National certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board (NBCOT)
  • State of Oklahoma certification/licensure as a special service provider in the area of Occupational Therapy
  • Valid driver's license required (role is itinerant and requires travel between school sites)

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated use of appropriate standardized assessment tools and treatment techniques in the area of motor and sensorimotor skill development
  • Applied knowledge of motor and sensorimotor therapeutic treatments and modalities to assist in improving students' educational performance
  • Knowledge of school-based occupational therapy services
  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment and assistive technology that may be required to address access needs of children with disabilities
  • Knowledge of District, State, and Federal special education regulations as they relate to school-based OT services
  • Ability to develop and implement individual educational plan goals and objectives relating to motor and sensorimotor skill development in the school setting
  • Ability to develop and implement OT service delivery models, such as direct, collaborative, monitor, and consultative
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage workload autonomously
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other professionals
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of students, teachers, and schools
  • Ability to drive to various schools to provide itinerant occupational therapy services to students on caseload
  • Ability to perform basic office operational duties, including use of computer, time-off reporting, EdPlan, printers, and completion of mileage forms
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others on a team
