Job Description
Our client, a privately-held, world leader with over 30 years in new product development and commercialization in the areas of environmental radiochemistry, nuclear medicine, and geochemistry, is seeking an
Organic Chemist
based out of their US manufacturing and R\&D facility in West suburban Chicago
.
This position reports into the head of R\&D and will be primarily responsible for the synthesis and purification of organic extractants used for chromatography resins. These resins are used in the production of radiopharmaceuticals that diagnose and treat diseases such as cancer.

Responsibilities:
- Synthesize and purify a variety of organic extractants, including amides, organophosphorus compounds, and crown ethers.
- Make small batches of extraction chromatography resins for quality control testing.
- Ensure the company’s operations are conducted in a safe manner in compliance with all governmental regulations
- Perform procedures necessary to ensure products meet quality specifications
Requirements
- BS or MS Chemistry.
- 2\+ years experience with synthetic organic chemistry.
- Must be able to work in standard chemistry laboratory with hazardous chemicals
- Must be familiar with safety aspects of working with hazardous chemicals, including flammable solvents, compressed gases, and corrosive liquids and gases. Experience working with hydrogen gas or hydrogenation reactions would be particularly desired.
- Computer proficiency required – Windows PC using Microsoft Office software.
- Intellectually curious, able to work well with other departments within the organization.
- Proficient in oral and written communication skills
