Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join its Information Systems Team. In this role, you'll serve as the guardian of data performance, security, availability, and governance while delivering insights that drive business strategy. Working cross-functionally across Development, QA, and Operations, you'll implement operational best practices, optimize deployments, and maintain proactive monitoring across all database environments. Additionally, you'll lead data analysis efforts and develop sophisticated Power BI dashboards to support strategic decision-making across engineering, operations, and business teams.

What You Will Do

  • Manage, maintain, and optimize company databases for performance, reliability, security, and scalability
  • Perform database administration tasks across relational and NoSQL environments
  • Create and manage database users, roles, and permissions to ensure proper access controls
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and indexing issues
  • Evaluate and tune queries, indexes, and configurations to optimize performance
  • Implement and maintain data security controls including encryption, auditing, and compliance measures
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies across the organization
  • Ensure data integrity and availability through robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Design and implement logical data models and build usable datasets for self-service analytics
  • Design and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports supporting business decision-making
  • Partner with Development, QA, and Operations teams to support deployments and incident response

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in any field or equivalent experience
  • 5\+ years of Database Administrator experience managing production environments
  • Expertise with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) including schema design, query tuning, and index strategy
  • Strong database monitoring, profiling, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience building or maintaining dashboards and reports (Power BI and/or Tableau)
  • Working knowledge of database security, access controls, roles/permissions, auditing, and encryption
  • Experience with backup/recovery concepts and disaster recovery preparedness
  • Ability to translate business needs into analytical deliverables and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation
