Job Description

About the Role:

This US-based Apigee Developer owns all development work touching GovCloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure GovCloud) and leads the API proxy migration from IBM APIC/DataPower to Apigee. A second developer based in India will handle non-GovCloud workstreams in parallel, enabling full coverage across all five target environments.

Key Responsibilities

GovCloud API Development

  • Own all proxy development, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC for AWS GovCloud and Azure GovCloud environments
  • Ensure all GovCloud deployments meet NIST 800-171 / FedRAMP requirements
  • Coordinate with the India-based developer on shared policy libraries and proxy patterns

API Proxy Migration

  • Migrate API proxies from IBM APIC/DataPower policies to Apigee proxy patterns
  • Develop and validate integration test cases for all migrated APIs
  • Maintain Apigee policy library: traffic management, security, mediation, and extension policies

CI/CD \& IaC

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Apigee environment provisioning and API deployment on GovCloud
  • Review and harden IaC artifacts: VPC/subnet configuration, EKS cluster setup, load balancers (ALB/NLB), storage
  • Implement cloud-specific best practices for AWS GovCloud and Azure GovCloud

Security

  • Implement authentication and authorization policies, RBAC, and secrets/KMS integration
  • Configure TLS/mTLS, logging, monitoring/alerting, and threat protection policies

Required Qualifications

  • 4\+ years Apigee API proxy development (Apigee Hybrid, X, or Edge)
  • Proficiency in Apigee policy development: AssignMessage, ServiceCallout, JavaScript, OAuthV2, Quota, SpikeArrest
  • CI/CD pipeline experience: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Cloud Build
  • Terraform or equivalent IaC for cloud infrastructure
  • AWS GovCloud or Azure GovCloud experience (or strong willingness to obtain FedRAMP training)
  • Strong understanding of OAuth 2\.0, API keys, HMAC, and JWT-based security

Preferred Qualifications

  • IBM APIC or DataPower policy development experience
  • Google Apigee API Engineer certification
  • EKS/GKE/AKS Kubernetes experience for Apigee Hybrid runtime
