Job Description

This is a fully onsite internship designed for hands‑on learning, close mentorship, and day‑to‑day collaboration with your IT team.

Why Interns Love Kimball Midwest

------------------------------------

Kimball Midwest is a family‑owned distributor with a strong Midwest culture and a long history of investing in people. Our IT team partners directly with the business to solve real problems across operations, supply chain, sales, and corporate functions.

Our internship program is a real, hands‑on experience—not just a résumé booster. Interns work onsite with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and see how technology decisions impact the business.

Many of our interns return to Kimball Midwest as full‑time associates after graduation. We invest in your learning, mentorship, and growth—during the summer and beyond.

Why this role

If you like working with data, solving problems, and understanding how systems connect, this internship gives you hands‑on exposure to real data engineering work—not busywork. You'll support Kimball Midwest's data modernization efforts and learn how data moves from source systems into enterprise platforms that leaders actually use.

What you'll do

  • Support data modernization projects that improve how data is stored, accessed, and used
  • Work with SQL and review existing code to help ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Assist with integrating data from multiple systems into our data warehouse
  • Document data processes and technical decisions so others can build on your work
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
  • Collaborate with IT and business partners to understand how data supports decisions

What you'll learn

  • How enterprise data platforms are designed and maintained
  • How Agile teams operate in a real IT environment
  • How to communicate technical information clearly and professionally

What we're looking for

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field
  • Coursework or experience with SQL; exposure to Azure or similar tools is a plus
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn

Additional Information

Internship starts on May 18, 2026 and will last for 12 weeks.

Kimball Midwest is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to a program of recruitment of females, minority group members, individuals with disabilities, qualifying veterans and any other classification that is protected by federal, state or local law.
