Job Description

Mission:

We are developing a next-generation battery energy storage system for commercial and grid-scale applications. This role supports both system-level validation of energy storage racks and cell-level testing activities in our U.S. laboratory. This is a hands-on engineering role operating across system and component testing in a fast-evolving R\&D environment.

1) Position Targets / Outcomes:

  • System-Level Testing \& Validation
  • Execute validation testing on 1500V DC energy storage vessels and racks
  • Support functional verification, protection logic testing, and performance validation
  • Perform system troubleshooting and fault analysis
  • Coordinate test results and technical findings with the global-based system engineering team
  • Cell-Level Testing \& Documentation
  • Testing battery cell performance, editing cycling test procedures, and supervising data collection.
  • Analyzing and summarizing test data, developing data analysis templates, and plotting data curves.
  • Building testing platforms using data acquisition equipment, power supplies, sensors, and other hardware to meet R\&D testing requirements.
  • Managing and documenting battery testing procedures, including defining test steps and troubleshooting test failures. Able to clearly communicate technical matters, scheduling considerations, deliverables, and technical requirements.
  • Responsible for the quality and reliability of test results. Identify abnormal results potentially caused by equipment issues.
  • Laboratory Support
  • Installation, debugging, regular maintenance, and follow-up on troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
  • Complying with and maintaining standard operating procedures to ensure the lab remains safe, clean, and orderly.
  • Developing usage plans for test equipment based on testing requirements, including battery cell testing system channels and high/low temperature environmental chambers.
  • Collaborating with mechanical engineers and equipment suppliers to design, assemble, and document battery test fixtures.

2) Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in system testing, power systems, battery systems, or laboratory testing environments
  • Hands-on experience working with high-voltage DC systems (1000V\+ preferred; 1500V strongly preferred)
  • High-voltage safety training or certification (NFPA 70E or equivalent)
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and test equipment
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and system diagrams
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and structured problem-solving approach

3) Ideal Mindset \& Competencies

  • Strong hands-on engineering mindset
  • Comfortable operating across system and component testing scopes
  • Able to work independently in an R\&D environment
  • Effective communicator across geographically distributed teams
  • Structured in documentation and reporting
  • Calm and systematic under field troubleshooting conditions
  • Flexible and adaptable as testing priorities evolve
