Job Description

About Bark

Bark is an online services marketplace connecting customers with professionals across over 1,000 categories. Operating in nine countries including the UK, US, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, we're transforming how people find trusted service providers for everything from home improvement to professional services.

Our platform uses cutting-edge technology to match customers with the right professionals quickly and efficiently. With a global team of over 220 people, we're currently undergoing an exciting transformation: migrating from a lead generation model to a full marketplace platform with subscription based pricing.

As a profitable, PE backed scale up (EMK Capital), Bark offers the best of both worlds: the agility and innovation of a fast moving business combined with financial stability and resources for growth. We recently launched our new marketplace model in Australia (Q4 2025) and are preparing for rollout to the UK and US markets in 2026\. You'll have genuine ownership, responsibility, and the opportunity to shape our commercial strategy during a pivotal transformation phase with the chance to make your own contribution to our journey.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Head of Product to own the Consumer proposition end-to-end — from value proposition and product-led growth loops through to the day-to-day experience our consumers have when they come to Bark to get a job done.

This is not a hands-off strategy role. We want a player-coach: someone who sets the direction, grows the team underneath them into stronger PMs, yet is ready to step into complex initiatives and shape them directly. You’ll move fluently between vision, people, and execution — and you’ll make your teams faster by unblocking them, giving them clarity, and raising the bar on how we work.

This is a transformation role, not an iteration role. We’re not looking to polish the current consumer experience - we’re rebuilding the model from the ground up, moving from a lead-gen business to a subscription marketplace. You’ll be key to shaping what that looks like for our consumers, and you’ll need to move at the pace of a business that’s genuinely changing under its own feet.

  • Please note you must be based in Spain to be considered for this fully remote role.

Responsibilities

We think about this role across three layers - strategic ownership to define where we take our Consumer product, the team you build to get us there, and the execution depth that makes sure we actually do.

Strategy and long-term ownership

  • Value proposition. Own what Bark offers Consumers, how it evolves as we move to a subscription marketplace, and how it differentiates us in each of our markets.
  • Product-led growth loops. Identify, build and compound the loops that bring consumers to Bark, get them to value quickly, and keep them coming back. Growth that compounds without proportional marketing spend.
  • Repeat usage and LTV. Own the strategy for turning one-time enquirers into returning consumers - a critical driver of marketplace LTV and the foundation of the subscription thesis.
  • “Moats”. Develop the structural advantages - consumer trust, data, brand, match quality - that make Bark hard to displace on the demand side.
  • Consumer product strategy. Translate the above into a clear, prioritised roadmap that your squads and the wider business can rally behind.

People and team

  • Grow your PMs. Coach a team of Product Managers across our four competencies - Business Impact, Execution, User Insight, and Strategy \& Leadership. You’ll be the PM leader people most want to work for and learn from.
  • Shape ways of working. Define the rituals, artefacts and decision-making norms that let a growing product org stay sharp. Culture and coaching before process.
  • Raise the craft bar. Develop the quality of discovery, prioritisation and delivery in your teams - through feedback, pairing on hard problems, the standards you set in your own work, and the evolution of our tools and processes in an AI age.
  • Design the team. Partner with the CPO and product leadership on squad structure, hiring, and levelling to build a team capable of delivering against the strategy.
  • Accelerate autonomy. Give your squads enough clarity on strategy and priorities that they can make great decisions without you in the room.

Execution depth - where you’ll get hands-on

  • We expect the Head of Product to stay in the detail on our most complex or highest-leverage work (this is a real player-coach role). Examples today include:
  • Consumer app. Shaping our consumer mobile experience as a core surface for engagement, repeat usage, and our transition to Polaris .
  • Repeat usage strategy. Leading the cross-team work to prove and scale the repeat usage thesis - delivering value through each stage of a consumer’s journey so they keep coming back.
  • Growth loops. How we build a marketplace that supports continued self-powered growth.
  • Intelligent consumer acquisition. Driving the evolution of our acquisition in line with liquidity needs across multiple locations and geographies.
  • AI-powered comms and search tools. Supporting consumers through the challenges of finding the right professional - and doing so at scale across multiple categories / needs.

Required Skills and Experience

Contributing to Bark’s wider strategy:

This role isn’t only about the Consumer product area. As one of Bark’s senior product leaders, you’ll be a meaningful voice in shaping overall company direction.

Who you’ll work with:

  • The Consumer side of the marketplace is deeply cross-functional. Key relationships you’ll form include:
  • Head of Product, Professional. Your peer - the two sides of the marketplace only work if they work together.
  • Engineering and Design leadership. Joint ownership of squad health, product delivery and team structure.
  • Marketing and Brand. Partner on consumer acquisition funnels, positioning, brand trust, and lifecycle comms - especially where paid, organic and product-led growth interact.

Who we’re looking for :

  • You’re a senior product leader who enjoys the player-coach balance of setting strategy, growing a team, and staying in the work. You’re drawn to this role because Bark is genuinely transforming - and you want to help shape what comes next rather than inherit something finished.
  • You're a credible senior product leader. You've led Product in a fast-paced online business at scale, you contribute to company strategy rather than just functional strategy, and you communicate clearly from ICs to C-suite.
  • You bring real product craft. You understand marketplace or consumer demand-side dynamics, you're fluent with product-led growth loops, and you work confidently across qual and quant evidence. You'll step into complex work yourself when it matters, without taking ownership from your PMs.
  • You grow people. You've made PMs stronger, and they'd vouch for it.
  • You operate well in change. You're AI-first as a leader - fluent with agentic workflows and AI-driven prototyping - and you can hold direction under ambiguity without waiting for certainty to act.

Interview Process

  • Screening Call with Talent Partner (30 mins)
  • 1st Stage - Product Interview (45 mins)
  • 2nd Stage - Task stage with Panel (120 mins)
  • 3rd Stage - Values \& Leadership interview with key stakeholders (60 mins)
