Job Description

About the Role

Maleda Tech is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Data Security and Data Protection Platforms to help build and scale systems that protect sensitive data across complex infrastructure environments.

In this role, you will design and implement solutions that automatically detect, classify, and safeguard sensitive information across multiple data storage systems. You will collaborate with engineering, data infrastructure, and security teams to build scalable systems that improve data governance, prevent data leakage, and enable secure product development.

This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy identifying security vulnerabilities, building highly scalable backend systems, and leveraging modern technologies—including AI/ML—to strengthen data protection capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build systems that identify, classify, and protect sensitive data across structured and unstructured data environments.
  • Develop and enhance a Data Protection Platform (DPP) that automatically detects and classifies sensitive information across relational databases, non-relational databases, cloud storage, and code repositories.
  • Implement automated security controls that prevent data leakage across applications and infrastructure platforms.
  • Build scalable services for data discovery, classification, and annotation, including pattern-based detection and machine learning models.
  • Collaborate with data infrastructure teams to develop backend systems that provide visibility into data ownership, access, and lineage.
  • Implement security mechanisms such as encryption, data masking, and access control frameworks to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Integrate AI and machine learning technologies to improve security operations, including advanced data discovery, classification, and incident response.
  • Expand and enhance Data Loss Prevention (DLP) coverage across cloud environments.
  • Build and maintain scalable infrastructure using modern cloud technologies.
  • Develop systems that improve visibility into third-party vendor integrations and help protect user data shared with external services.
  • Partner with security, privacy engineering, and governance teams to support data protection compliance and security best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data security infrastructure and platform performance.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience building secure, scalable backend systems and data platforms.
  • Experience designing or contributing to data protection, data classification, or data loss prevention (DLP) solutions.
  • Proficiency with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud.
  • Experience working with relational and non-relational databases and large-scale data storage systems.
  • Knowledge of data security controls, including encryption, access management, and data masking.
  • Experience implementing automated detection systems, such as regex-based detection or machine learning models for sensitive data identification.
  • Familiarity with data governance concepts, including data lineage, ownership, and access auditing.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams across engineering, security, and data infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in distributed systems environments.
  • Interest in leveraging AI/ML technologies to enhance security and data protection capabilities.

Key Details

  • Start Date: April 7, 2026
  • Contract Duration: Approximately 12 months (through April 3, 2027)
  • Location: Remote within the United States
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday
  • Compensation: $72-$82/hour depending on experience
