Job Description
Elevated Angles is looking for a driven
Videographer / Drone Pilot
to join our growing production team.
We’re a small, fast-moving production company specializing in high-end drone cinematography, FPV, commercial video, social media content, branded productions, sports, hospitality, real estate, construction, and live events.
This is not a typical 9–5 production job. One day you might be filming from the roof of a high-rise under construction, the next you could be shooting sunrise footage, traveling across the country for a production, working an overnight job, or flying a drone on a major commercial set.
We’re looking for someone who wants to build a career, take on responsibility quickly, and become a key part of a growing company.
You do not need to know everything on day one. What matters most to us is that you are
motivated, dependable, organized, technically capable, creative, and willing to learn.
What You'll Be Doing
- Shooting professional video using
Sony camera systems
- Operating cameras on
gimbals and other stabilization systems
- Flying cinematic camera drones for commercial productions
- Working alongside our FPV pilots and production team
- Potentially flying
manual FPV drones
depending on experience
- Capturing creative B-roll, detail shots, lifestyle content, interviews, architectural footage, and commercial imagery
- Shooting professional still photography when required
- Editing and organizing photos using
Adobe Lightroom
- Preparing cameras, drones, batteries, lenses, media, and production equipment before shoots
- Managing and maintaining production equipment
- Reviewing schedules, emails, call sheets, locations, and production details before jobs
- Keeping calendars and schedules organized
- Making sure you are fully prepared before arriving on location
- Communicating directly with clients and other crew members
- Operating independently on smaller productions
- Working as part of a larger production team when required
- Traveling throughout Pennsylvania and across the country for productions
Video editing is not a requirement for this position.
Drone \& FPV Experience
Experience flying DJI camera drones is strongly preferred.
A current
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
is preferred. If you do not currently have one, you should be willing and able to obtain it.
Experience flying
true manual FPV / Acro mode
is a major plus and will be considered when determining compensation.
We are specifically referring to traditional manual FPV flying — not simply operating a DJI Avata in assisted flight modes.
Advanced FPV experience can significantly increase your value within this position as your responsibilities grow.
Camera Experience
You should already be comfortable operating professional cameras manually.
Experience with the following is especially valuable:
- Sony mirrorless or Sony Cinema Line cameras
- Manual exposure
- Aperture, shutter speed, ISO, ND filters, and white balance
- Different frame rates and shooting formats
- Lens selection and focal lengths
- Gimbals
- Handheld camera operation
- Composition and camera movement
- Basic lighting
- Professional photo shooting
- Adobe Lightroom
Experience with RED cameras is
not required
.
You Have to Be Comfortable in Unusual Environments
A large amount of our work happens outside of traditional studios and offices.
You must be comfortable working on:
- Active construction sites
- High-rise buildings under construction
- Rooftops
- Industrial environments
- Outdoor locations
- Live events
- Early-morning productions
- Sunrise shoots
- Sunset shoots
- Night shoots
- Overnight productions
- Productions that require travel
You must be comfortable following site safety requirements and working responsibly around construction crews, equipment, heights, and active job sites.
Your Schedule Will Be Fluid
Production schedules change constantly.
Some weeks will look relatively normal. Other weeks may involve an early sunrise shoot, a normal daytime production, an evening job, or an overnight production.
You need to be someone who can adapt quickly when schedules change.
You should also be
reachable by phone throughout most of the day
for scheduling updates, production changes, travel coordination, and other time-sensitive communication.
We respect personal time, but this position requires someone who understands that production does not always happen between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
This is a salaried position, and
qualifying overtime and extended production work are additionally compensated.
We Need Someone Who Can Think on Their Feet
Things change constantly on productions.
Weather changes. Clients change requests. Locations change. Access changes. Drone conditions change. Construction schedules move. A shot you planned may suddenly become impossible.
You need to be able to quickly assess a situation, come up with another solution, and keep the production moving.
We’re looking for someone who does not freeze when something unexpected happens.
Organization Is Extremely Important
Being talented with a camera is only part of this job.
You also need to be extremely dependable and organized.
That means:
- Checking your email consistently
- Keeping your calendar updated
- Reviewing production information ahead of time
- Knowing where you need to be and when
- Confirming addresses, parking, access, contacts, and call times
- Charging batteries and preparing equipment in advance
- Making sure memory cards and storage are ready
- Bringing the correct equipment
- Keeping gear organized
- Communicating if there is an issue
- Showing up early and prepared
We want someone we can trust to receive an assignment and know that it will be handled properly.
Working Independently - And with a Team
Some productions may involve a large crew.
Others may simply be you.
You need to be equally comfortable:
- Operating on your own
- Communicating directly with a client
- Making creative decisions independently
- Handling equipment and logistics yourself
And:
- Taking direction from a producer or director
- Working alongside other videographers and drone pilots
- Communicating clearly with crew members
- Helping wherever needed to make the production successful
There is no “that’s not my job” mentality on a small production team.
Travel
You must be comfortable traveling for work.
While many productions are located throughout the Philadelphia region and Pennsylvania, we regularly travel throughout the United States for projects.
Travel may include:
- Same-day trips
- Driving to regional productions
- Flights
- Multi-day productions
- Hotel stays
- Early departures
- Late returns
- Occasional overnight work
For the right person, this is one of the best parts of the job. You’ll get opportunities to work in places and environments most traditional videographers never experience.
Who We Are Looking For
The right person is someone who is:
- Hungry to grow
- Reliable
- Creative
- Technically capable
- Organized
- Professional
- Easy to communicate with
- Comfortable taking responsibility
- Calm under pressure
- Able to solve problems quickly
- Comfortable working alone
- Comfortable working with a team
- Interested in cameras, drones, FPV, technology, and filmmaking
- Excited about traveling and working in different environments
- Interested in building a long-term career instead of simply having another job
We are a small company, which means strong employees get opportunities quickly.
If you prove that you can handle responsibility, you will be given more responsibility.
Compensation
$50,000–$70,000\+ annually
, depending on your experience and skillset.
Compensation will take into account areas such as:
- Professional videography experience
- Sony camera experience
- Gimbal experience
- Photography experience
- Drone piloting ability
- FAA Part 107 certification
- Manual FPV / Acro experience
- Overall technical ability
- Production experience
- Ability to independently handle shoots
Highly qualified candidates with strong manual FPV and production experience may fall toward the higher end of the range.
Additional compensation is provided for qualifying overtime and extended production work.
Location
Candidates
must live in Pennsylvania
and be within reasonable traveling distance of the Philadelphia region.
This is not a remote position.
You must have reliable transportation and be able to get yourself and production equipment to jobs throughout the region.
Why Elevated Angles?
We’re still a small company, and that creates a different kind of opportunity.
You won’t be employee #300 sitting in the same role for five years.
You’ll work directly with experienced filmmakers and drone pilots, operate professional equipment, travel for productions, work with major clients, learn advanced drone and FPV techniques, and have the opportunity to take on increasingly important projects as the company grows.
If you love cameras, drones, filmmaking, traveling, technology, and creating things — and you’re looking for a place where your work actually matters — we’d like to hear from you.
To Apply:
Please submit:
- Your resume
- Demo reel or portfolio
- Examples of videography work
- Examples of photography work, if available
- Drone footage, if available
- Manual FPV footage, if applicable
- A short introduction about yourself and why you think you’d be a good fit for Elevated Angles
