Position Overview
We are looking for a Welder Helper for our team. They will assist welders and fabrication teams with material preparation, equipment setup, and jobsite support. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to start a career in welding and fabrication while gaining hands-on experience under skilled supervision.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist welders in preparing materials, tools, and work areas.
- Clean, grind, and fit materials prior to welding.
- Move, organize, and secure materials and equipment as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shop or job site.
- Inspect and maintain basic welding tools and accessories.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Learn and apply basic welding techniques as directed.
- Perform general labor and support tasks as assigned.
Accountabilities
- Continual learning and development in the body of knowledge through FirstCall Academy, to ensure we set the bar for skill level in the industry
- Elite level of customer service, to ensure we continue to be the FirstCall our customers make for their HVAC needs
ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT
This position is reported directly to the local Project Manager.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- No prior experience necessary; mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Willingness to learn and develop welding and fabrication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in hot, confined, or outdoor environments.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and reliability.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills.
BEHAVIORAL PROFILE
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to discern between tasks to determine how best to accomplish goals and organize task/people assignments to get results in a timely way. Ability to figure out processes and simplify them in order to maximize workflow.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem-solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
